Hey all I've spent the past week trying out making SS mesh wicks for my Igo dripper, with varying success. Sometimes, it seems I get really foul, sharp tasting dry vapes which burn inside my nose a bit.. but when I look I have enough juice in there. Is it better to roll the wick tighter or not so tight? Is it down to the coils being too tight or not tight enough etc? Any help appreciated! Thanks in advance Steve

Have you checked to see if you have any hot spots? They can give the taste you describe.

You want the wire touching the mesh but not too tight. The problem with them is nearly always the coil shorting through the metal wick because it is not fully oxidised- as Roger says - hot spots. Worth a try is, before you add any liquid (i.e. with the wick dry), just switch your device on and off fairly rapidly. You often find with them that the end of the coil attached to the post goes red first. If you keep pulsing it, with luck the oxidisation builds up and you will find other parts of the coil starting to glow. Keep going until the whole coil glows red and then you know it is working correctly. Add your liquid and vape away

sounds like uneven coils, have a look around it see if there basically an even spaced coil, hurriedly wrapped one once coils un even at back boiled the juice on wick hence burnt and hot and that was on only 3v on a vamo lol

I have found that SS wicks are not all that suitable for rebuildable attys of this kind. SS wicks don't wick fast enough when not immersed in a tank of juice..
Better to make a hybrid up to the point of coiling if you must have a SS wick in there which will keep the coil area nice and wet..

Thanks all for your input, some good advice for me to look at.
I will also look up how to make a hybrid wick and give that a go!
