Need some info about AAE-C

Hi mainly looking for help from longtime members really as i need some questions filling in as chrissie isnt around to answer any at the mo.

so if people can help me out id be really happy and the reason i want answers is im gonna do a trial for something new for this forum as ive been given a nod from chrissie so watch this space.

Questions i would like answering are:


How was it started?

What inspired chrissie to start these forums?

When did AAE-C start?

Who has been here from the start?

Who is the longest vaper in here?

Whats the average age group who joins here?

How many members join daily?

Thats some questions i can think of at present when i think of more i will add them as and when or if someone can give me a complete history of this fabolous site then please dont hesitate to give any info needed.

I know chrissie aint about at present but im sure she would be able help out loads.

And as i said please keep your eyes peeled as something new is gonna be starting.

I am pretty sure that this was originally an eBay group and that this group was started because of eBay poking their noses into eBay groups.

Hey roachie...when you get all the history story together would you do a thread called something like "the histroy of All About" or "All About - the early years".
I'm sure many will find it interesting.

Chris did indeed start AAE-C as a result of Ebay banning the sale of ecigs, James the Community Manager told her no links to any Suppliers could be posted in the group, which effectively prohibited it's usefulness.

Although the group itself is still open, so you might find some useful and interesting info here Roachie . . . it's a public group so you should be able to access it all ok.

I believe that Chris and Scylla are our longest vapers, although they'd be able to confirm that.

Roachie, I joined last December 7th and I was member number 225. That should help you with the math, to figure out the average number of members who join each day.

Chrissie is our longest vaper, I am 101 days behind her and there may be others in between us

Chrissie started up an eBay Community Group when there was a huge thread in the old eBay Q&A board, something like "Has anyone tried electronic cigs?" started by someone who'd just bought one. Chrissie had already been vaping about 3 months at that time and she advised those of us who posted on the thread asking "what the heck's all this about?! " and "OMG, there may be hope after all " (that's what I thought at the time, I couldn't believe I felt positive about something for the first time ever!).

So Chrissie started the AAE-C eBay group and we got new members from the thread in Q&A and word spread. Then eBay banned e-cigs and got heavy-handed with us, as stated above, so Chrissie started the ProBoard forum - which it took some of us a long time to get used to and we still miss the dear old group

We stayed small for a long time - people drop out of forums even tho they keep vaping, they've got other interests. But some are so blerdy grateful to e-cigs for getting them off 50 years of smoking that you cannot get rid of us no matter how you might like to It's not possible to stop "being here" in case someone as desperate as you were comes along needing help. At the same time, we have wonderful newer members who do just as good a job as the oldies, and look at the inventors we've got!

I can't remember why it was we had a bit of a surge in membership a few months ago (50 years of smoking has had its effect ) ... someone will tell me.

But one thing I will never forget is the feeling I got when I read the Q&A thread for the first time.

Yep as others have said we started off as an eBay group back in early October 2008. And as Scylla said, I formed the group mainly due to a thread that ended up with hundreds of posts on the old Q&A eBay community forum. We ended up with over 600 members in a very short time. But then in October 2009 I got the email from James the eBay community manager telling me to remove all links to e-cigs - or else. He gave me 24 hours to do so. So that night, in a hurry, I set up this Proboard - hence he daft URL without - between All about & e-cigarettes
