Recently, we seem to have been going through an awful lot of bird seed - I realise it has been really cold, and the poor little blighters must be really hungry, but it became apparent today where it has been going. Cheeky girl - as well as helping herself, she kicks it off for the rest of them!

Been thinking of getting some bird feeders and/or tables for some time, love watching them. But... we've got so many grey squirrels around here, usually trip over a few each morning, and I don't want to be be providing them with breakfast!

Yep, that's certainly not a stoopid chook! It'll keep egg production up too.

Add Chilli powder to the seed , birds have fewer taste buds than squirrels , so they eat the seed and the squirrels dont

Raffles my mother has the same problem with squirrels, but they make some good squirrel-resistant feeders these days

When I was living in the UK I had a squirrel resistant bird feeder, it was last seen being dragged up the garden path to be cracked later by a bally squirrel But the chilli powder works and its low tech as well
