I'm not sure if this has been brought up before
THe one I have to hand would puff out far more chemicals in one puff than an E-cig ever could

Don't need to use them any more since I stopped smoking.

A few drops of pure essential oil dropped on a cotton wool pad and inserted into the hoover works just as well without any nasty chemical smell Yes, sooetie, I would agree that those can't be good. They're not recommended for use anywhere near fish tanks!

From Wiki
Ingredients Basic ingredients in air fresheners typically include fragrances, aerosol propellants, and solvents such as mineral oil or 2-butoxyethanol and other glycol ethers. As fragrances, air freshener preparations often include terpenes such as limonene. A report issued in 2005 by the Bureau Européen des Unions de Consommateurs (BEUC) found that many air freshener products emit allergens and toxic air pollutants including benzene, formaldehyde, terpenes, styrene, phthalate esters, and toluene.[2] A study in 2006 found that the prominent products of the reaction of terpenes found in air fresheners with ozone included formaldehyde, hydroxyl radical, and secondary ultrafine particles.[3]

Another great room freshener is the lampe berger. It has an antiseptic effect as well - they used to use them in hospital wards in France. You can make your own oils for them as well from Isopropyl alcohol and essential oils

Menthol crystals are great as well, dilute them in some PG and have a small dish with some cotton pads soaked in the solution. Freshens a room up nicely and will also absorb any iffy smells if placed in an oven. No chemicals either.
