Thanks Jess. He does seem to be almost his usual when the two of them are out walkies, but in the house Mull just goes to his bed and doesn't move about much, so Coll is confused by this behaviour.
Normally in the house there are chasing games and pretend fisty-cuffs most of the day.
Anyways, having seen the x-rays of the amount of stones in his bladder, I am glad that he is not over active in the house. One of them breaking loose and flowing down his urinary tract would do serious damage.

Fingers crossed lobey. One of the really touching things about dogs is that they have no concept of self pity, so they just get on with it, whatever the problem. Here's hoping the op goes well.

So true. I get the impression that Coll is more down in the dumps about the situation than Mull is. His playmate is just not playing the way he used to. So now, when Mull is in his bed, Coll comes up the stairs when I'm on the PC and tries to jump up on me for a play time. At least he doesn't bite my ears or paw my nose like he used to do to Mull to get a chasing game going.

Not that the money matters, but with today being £195 just for the x-rays and the operation looming next week, I will have to start loking into the Insurance Claim and see what I need to do regarding that.
We've never claimed for Pet Insurance, but I guess there is a first time for everything and this problem may run for a while.

Sorry to hear this Lobey, I feel for ya. Its the thing with pets they give their all to you and are unconditional with their love it breaks your heart when they get sick. Just lost my wee 14 year old spaniel who the vet said had a heart like a bull but nothing else going for her and I had to put her to sleep which wrecked me for weeks. I know it was the right thing to do there and then but we had many scares before that and she pulled through so don't give up hope.

Thanks Jockeypants. Yes, I have been there before, many moons ago with an Old English Sheepdog that we got as a rescue when he was 18 months old. He was 14 when we had to get him put to sleep and it was sore for a long time.
Anyways, the two of them are cuddled up together in their cage tonight and sleeping peacefully. So we wait and see what happens.

fred Thanks for that tip about Apple cider vinegar, I have a bottle of Organic unpasteurised apple cider vinegar( with mother) , I used to take it myself but didn't get on with it. I will now put it to good use and put it in my little chico's drinking water, prevention being better than cure. Lobeydosser, so sorry to read about your poor dog, hope everything goes well and he will soon recover. Makes us feel so useless when our pets are ill and we can't help them, just lots of tlc.

Lobey, use your insurance, that's what it's there for We've used ours for the last 15 months since Patch (our Ewok) suddenly developed Epilepsy (quite common around 5-7 yrs old in dogs, apparently). Blood tests, daily meds, etc. add up, and it should cover all the x-rays, tests, op, aftercare, etc. barring the policy excess. That's the only thing to watch, ours is annually the first £70 and then 10% ongoing, but the other big thing is that most ins companies will pay the vet's direct (MoreThan do, thankfully) minus the excess of course.

No probs Phoenix . - you obviously know about ACV and its benefits, as you've proudly got the mother in yours - mrs fred is always wanting to try and fish it out for the plughole For anyone else, do a bit of research on it, as too much ACV can obviously cause problems due to too much acid, but personally, I think its superb stuff. (Maybe i'm biased though - I love 'proper' scrumpy )

Oh lobeydosser sorry for that. I thought about mentioning that Mull would be using it for medical reasons, but refrained in case Europe decide to regulate it:

Mull is at the vet's just now, recovering from a long operation which had complications because although the Vet did remove scores of Stones in his Bladder, some had already gone down into his Urethra and these are difficult to remove.
I have to phone later this evening to find out what is going on and whether he stays at home overnight or stays at the Vets. Either way, he will be back at the Vet tomorrow.
Meanwhile his mate is sitting at my feet looking completely lost.
