Hi Lobey, thanks for the updates. I am horrified by the Vet's charges!! Fortunately but sadly, I no longer have any pets, wouldn't be able to afford one, although I would love something. But I have to remember I am not getting any younger and live up 3 flights of stairs (although there is a lift in this place) I would not be able to cope, arthitis etc. Fortunately, my mate Elvis!!, who lives in a ground-floor flat opposite has a gorgeous white kitty, he's had her from a kitten (about two years now) and I can pet her whenever I want. In fact, if she's not in, or in sight, when I visit - she seems to know I am there and soon sits on the window sill to be let in and snuggles in my lap, after she's had the treats I take for her!!! I do hope your Mull gets better soon. MMa xxx

This poor wee lame dug that I wouldn't have paid tuppence for his life a month ago and had to be carried up and down stairs, this afternoon was chasing his playmate Coll round the lounge like Red Rum, jumping over dog beds and toys and barking his silly head off. And that just two days after getting out of hospital where the specialist was telling us that he had suspected rheumatoid arthritis! Only just seen this pic (after I wrote my post) !!!! Wonderful MMa xxx

Great news lobeydosser great pic, as well. No, you paid a damn sight more than that, but your post and that photo suggest to me it was money well spent. Keep well, Mull. & Coll, don't let him catch you

Both Mull & Coll, as I am sure everybody's pets, give us more pleasure that any money could pay for.

Okay, the good news is that what Mull has is not got Rheumatoid Arthritis!
What he has is an unpronounceable name but a high dosage course of Steroids should cure it, so that is what we will start him on shortly.
A few weeks on this and then a return to the Vet Hosp for another series of tests before we find out whether it is working or whether we need to prolong the treatment with perhaps other drugs thrown in.
However, at the moment he appears to be enjoying the extra treatment of getting lifted up and down from chairs and his bum lifted when he wants to go up the stairs. Ofcourse when no one is looking and he wants upstairs, he is surprising agile for such a poor sick doggy!!!!!

Another wee update.
We had Mull over at the Vet Hospital for his second visit today. It looks like the Steroid Pills have done the bizz and the fluid on his leg joints is almost back to the normal amount and they appear to be clear of all the bugs that was causing the swelling.
We will not know for sure until the lab has run their tests but things are looking good and we have started to reduce the amount of Steroids he has been getting. If the results come back clear, we will wean him off the steroids altogether over the next month.
With our fingers and his legs, crossed, he is back to normal at last.
