Oh, lobbey, Glad to hear he's through the surgery - that's the first step out the way. Hopefully, you'll get him home overnight, but I suppose, if they want to keep him, at least he's in the second best place (home being the first). Give Coll an extra cuddle from all of us here - he must be missing his mate.

Thanks all, he is at home and tonight has the cage/nest/den to himself while Coll gets Daddies Bed to himself until I get there as well.
The Vet removed 45 stones of varying sizes but admits that he doesn't think he has got them all. These are now off to the Lab for analysis.
Meanwhile we are back at the Vet tomorrow first thing to see how he has faired overnight.
The Vet did say that he is a tough wee guy, so that bears well for a good recovery. Fingers and paws crossed.
I will update this tomorrow.

Wow 45 stones!! Poor little fella, I bet he'll feel a lot better in no time now they've been removed.

I hope so Simate.
At the moment I am supposed to stalk him around the garden with a torch and to watch his pee to check for blood, but the fly wee bugger will not lift his leg to pee because of the stitches.
He just kinks his body slightly and pees and by the time I get the beam of the torch there, he has finished and is heading back to the house.
I'm sure he does it on purpose!

That's a tough one, other than looking where he pee'd I can't think of anything to suggest.

That's a tough one, other than looking where he pee'd I can't think of anything to suggest. Yup. That is all I can do. No sign of anything other that normal pee, so that is a good sign. Depending on what the stones turn out to be, I have high hopes that some suggestions I have been given on here may afford a permanent solution to his Bladder Stones problems for the future. Not just a Vaping Forum, but a very informative and helpful one on many diverse subjects. And for that I thank you one and all.

Hi Lobey, Hopefully the dear little doggy will come through it all. I'm a bit vague though as to what 'stones' are. At first I thought (stupidly) he had swallowed things when out playing but, reading all the above, I guess I am wrong!! Please explain to me. Hugs for you and doggies. MMa xxx

magicma Bladder Stoneslobeydosser Have you got a ladle or kidney dish? You could catch a 'sample' for inspection. We frequently have to take samples from Polly for her kidney probs, and the kidney dish is easiest (if it's no problem bending, otherwise ladle) - the vet should be able to give you one FOC (a kidney dish, that is).

Hi All, Just back from the Vets and he is still doing fine although it would appear that at some point during the night he managed to chew one of his stitches out. However the wound has stayed closed so they have forced him to join the Priesthood and given him a Dog Collar to wear. He is not amused!! We have to return to the Vets tomorrow where we are hoping for a continued improvement. Hi Magicma, These stones have grown in his Bladder over time. Most are about 1mm across but about 10 of them were 4 or 5mm across and some had already travelled down his Urethra and were blocking it. The Vet says there are 3 types of Bladder Stones and we have to find out which type these are before we can come up with a diet that will prevent further stones developing. So all the stones that were removed, have now gone to a Lab for analysis. I have kept 6 of the smaller stones and later today I will put them in vinegar to see if that disolves them. It could be something as simple as calcium based stones caused by him not having enough acid in his guts to disolve the calcium and this has lead to the build up in his bladder, but here I am making a layman's internet derived guess and until the results come back from the lab, I'm clutching at straws. The main thing is that they have happened over a period of time and now that the worst has been removed, we do have a breathing space to find out what they are and how best to treat the problem so that it does not re-occur.

Hi Fred, His urine is clear and there is no blood so we appear to be okay there.
When he forgets that he has the stitches, he lifts his leg normally and I can clearly see that his wee is clear.
I will continue to monitor this.
There are other worrying things, so we are not out of the woods yet, but as we are both retired it is easy for us to re-arrange things so that one of us is always there to keep an eye on him.
Coll is still confused by what is happeneing and I caught him last night, grabbing Mull by the ear and trying to pull him out of bed for a play fight. So Coll is getting extra attention to give Mull some extra snooze time.
