Got three bottles of French connection grande reserve 2012 merlot, £4 a bottle from asda, and it's pretty good, very moreish, and a defo would buy more. it's not acidic, and apparently has notes of plumbs, i wouldn't know about that, chris or dolly may be able to help with that one. So if you could kindly post your fave red wines, or a do not buy, then maybe we can get a reliable list, I will update on the hangover ability in the morn, cheers andy.

Are you storing it for a minimum of a week first in a dark cupboard and taking the cork out every day or so before trying it ?

Well, I don't know about dolly, but I've just pulled a muscle in my neck trying to find out........ ........On a more positive note, I'm rather partial to Spanish reds ( s'pose living there for half of my life has something to do with that ) & one of my favourites that are obtainable here, is Faustino IIV....However, if you can get your mitts on a Faustino I, you're cooking with gas.......

Sorry archie mine was only 13%, and to tell the truth I've never looked at the % on wines, only on beers, dunno why that is.

I've been keeping this one secret for quite a while (as a rule I tend to keep away from french wine it's all to complicated for me) This for under a fiver, I've spent more and been disappointed, but this is great! www.morrisonscellar.com/shop/vaucluse-grenache-syrah-75cl-0980876For the 14% plus wine I do like a Banrock Station Shiraz Mataro at £4 (Tesco do a box, dangerous in my house) For my I'm feeling flush (and haven't had much vape mail in a month) Cono Sur Pinot Noir tends to be around £6 (big spender) All of the above are great (in my humble opinion) but nothing compares to a pint of Harvey's best bitter and a good vape in my local

I have a wine cellar. Or rather, the butler "keeps" a wine rack.
I'd have to go and have a look what's there, but I did check out the bottle we drank on Christmas day. Currently selling for £80-£90 a bottle. There's some money in this grape lark.....

Bananas are more my thing, but don't know of anything alcoholic with banana in it.

My fave is a fruity foxy little number by Gallo called Summer Red. It's nice and light and is great just on it's own (as i found out last night after a bottle and a half), usually around £7 a bottle, i try to stock up by the case when it's offer.

Blownupdolly see if you can find anyone that makes homemade banana wine, you won't be disappointed.....tis yum! Personally, I'm cheap & cheerful, as I drink Rosé d'Anjou & it's about €2 a bottle.

I make my own - which can be surprisingly good. Just finishing off 23 litres of DOC's Merlot (from a kit) which worked out at about €3 a bottle, and is better than most medium price wines I can get in the shops. Also drinking a young rose petal wine I started off last September (so it has a while to reach maturity, but I couldn't wait). Very easy recipe taken from here - OK, so it's more pink than red, but is really very very nice Give it a go! Right now am on a bottle of Paul Masson California White - best the local Spar had to offer!
