I've had 2 of these, when one burnt out I took it apart. The tube with the holes slides off to reveal a long wick and can be repaired. (not tried it yet, waiting for the wire). The versions I've got have round holes but I've seen one with elongated holes so that may be the mesh one. There is also a later version that has a replaceable coil. Different places call them different things, CE3/4/5...version 1,2,3 etc. They are pretty good but you should be thinking about something better (and easier to replace coils). Oh, and welcome from one newbie to another. Mike.

A warm welcome to you Hoddle. I'm in the ' not tried ' camp as well . . . but there's numerous other alternatives that are tried and tested by many of us. The Evod also being my current favourite, replacement coil heads are available and they are extremely straightforward to replace. With two of you vaping, they'd be a good investment.

Hi Hoddle,
No idea, sorry. However, as mentioned, get an Evo-D or two, you should always have spares available. The Evo-D is fantastic little tank, one of my favs. I've also got the Protank, it's good, but not as good as the Evo-D. Get spare batts as well.

Hi all, thanks for the warm welcome, what a friendly bunch you are djs, your right the theory is good and in practice it seems fine but because i haven`t got anything to compare it with i feel i`m missing out on something better. Chrissie, the place i got this kit from is Britvapes and as advised i ordered a couple of replacement heads also i think i`m going to ordered a couple of vivi nova atomizers with coils from fasttech, will i need to get a plinth to connect these to the 510? as for the new kit for the wife i`m still not sure,it needs to be something with a good throat hit as she was a heavy smoker and still smokes ten a day. once again thank you all for the replies.

Hoddle I smoked thirty Mayfair a day when I smoked. I have found i get great throat hit just on my ego twist. I use a 50/50 mix and its fine. You can vary the voltage on them which is what affects the throat hit. You could if you wanted move onto the more expensive mods with VV and variable wattage too, but in all honesty I am more than happy on an ego... In pink of course

Hi hoddle and welcome from me too. The CE8's were marketed as having mesh wicks - in practice they have normal wicks with a bit of mesh wrapped round the outside, which so far as I can tell serves no useful purpose. They are not bad, but you'd be as well to stick to normal clearomisers like the CE3 re-buildable ones. Personally I'd go for an EVOD which I think are much better. These are all consumable items, so the heads only last a matter of weeks, depending on how much you vape. Worth getting a few different types to try and see which you find best

Karma has found you a link above for one at a good price. When we say a 50/50 mix, it refers to the percentage of pg and vg in your ejuice mix. So mine is half and half. You can choose various options 70/30 60/40 and so on. The higher the pg in your juice, the stronger the throat hit. Or have I got it the wrong way round? someone is bound to correct me if I am wrong.

No you have it right dolly. Higher pg gives you more throat hit and slightly better flavour and more vg means more vapour with less throat hit. I use 60pg 40vg now.

All here www.vapology.co.ukAlso take a look at alchemist liquids here www.thealchemistscupboard.co.uk/storepage1708877.aspx not sure if they have a discount code will have a look for you. Yes aaec for 5%off. And grizwalds here www.vapeescape.co.uk/search.asp?types=Grizwald%27s+Gourmet+Range discount code aaec for 10% off. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2

Don't worry about asking questions. No one was as green around the ears as me when I started. Still am in some areas. You said your wife likes a strong throat hit. So did I, but I find 50/50 just fine. As Rosco said, if she wants it stronger look at the links he posted, plus there's lots of others who will change the ratio to suit you. Just be aware that a lot of the juices you buy will need to be steeped for a while before they taste at their best. Usually anything from seven days to three weeks on some. There are a few that are ready to be used straight away, especially if they were made in a batch that has been sat with the vendor for a while. Just ask is my policy.
