Homemade menthol - recrystallising?

So I've just seen my homemade tutti frutti menthol looking a bit odd. Little crystals are floating around in it and sticking to the sides of the bottle. It's no biggie or anything, just wondering if it can recrystallise due to temperature fluctuations or something, or whether I didn't dissolve it properly in the first place! Anyone happen to know?

I'm not a menthol, person Jen (mental perhaps) but I would have thought that if it got too cold it would re-crystalise.

You could pop the bottle in a dish of warm water then give it a shake, see if that re-dissolves them

Hmm, well I warmed it up and it went back to being fairly uniformly fluid, and now 20 minutes later this:



Weird! Doesn't happen with my other menthol juices. ???

Strange, especially if it's not happening with other menthol mixes ???

How did you make the original Menthol Concentrate Jen? Was it in pure PG?

If it wasn't then your eliquid will likely re-crystallize  . . . even more so if the temperature drops a bit.

Mines done the same as Jen's. Dissolved in pure PG. I wondered if I'd made the concentration too strong.

I bought PG especially - don't use it otherwise. So it's 10% menthol in PG, 10% presumably PG flavouring and 80% VG.

Maybe you've added too many Menthol Crystals in the original PG solution concentrate Jen, so it's reached some sort of saturation point and when it's added to that much VG it reforms.

Just thinking aloud as I really don't know, not having experienced it myself.

Mine is the same with a 100% VG Mix, if you add some PG it does help but of course you're diluting the nic level too unless you make some 100% PG with the right nic level.

Hmm, OK thanks guys! I shall have to add more PG to my menthol mixes in future - reckon 50/50 would be OK?

Should be fine Jen . . . I made that ratio for one of the Medics a week ago and he hasn't reported back with any issues.

Just test some Jen without nic to find the best level of saturation and ratio, less costly than using nic.
