I usually tell them I'm a burglar and can they hurry up because I want to steal the phone too. Once had a mate screaming in the background for help too.
Might be evil but damn funny.

recently i stuffed the "postage paid" reply envelope with other junk mail i've received, surprising how satisfied i felt when i posted it, imagining the puzzled look on the face of the poor employee who gets to open it

Haha  Are these the guys that request access to your computer via remote desktop? If so i might write my own virus and ask them to download the software first as they'll need this piece of software to bypass my router and gain access. |

After getting plagued for years by cold callers and scams (even though we are ex directory) we went 100% answer phone.
Volume off, maximum rings (let em wait), delete any messages once a month.
Only reason we have a land line at all is because we can't get internet without one.
We used to have no handset plugged in at all but decided it might be handy in an emergency.
Anyone who we know calls us on our mobiles.

Bloke I used to work with was plagued by double glazing/conservatory sales calls, so he invited all the callers round to quote.
They were not happy when they got there and realised he lived on the 14th floor of a council block in the arse end of Salford.
Took him 3 months but never had a cold call since.

I really worry about my elderly Ma with all these calls. She believes them and only figures out when they ask for her bank details. Really worry. Fortunately she doesn't have online banking which is a relief and even though I've bought her a phone with caller display she doesn't use it so she has no idea whose phoning and is really quite vulnerable.. She has been lucky so far but she always wants a good freebie and that's how they con her. She ended up on squawk squawk cos the sales folk wouldn't stop hassling her. Want to protect her but can't really do a lot. Have told her more than once but she never listens. Such a worry |
