... you could make a crisp sandwich and still have a bit left in the bag ... now it seems that one bag = 1 sandwich ... Are these Gary Lineker b@stards reducing the amount of crisps we get by stealth ... ? Of course; it's been happening for years. I recall my Grandad telling me a packet of crisps in his day would feed a family for a month and cover acres of sandwiches and all for 1d (that's a penny).

I remember when Biscuits were in tins and you got a pound of them in a poke (paper bag). And Ham came on the bone, not in a sealed plastic tray. By the by, that's Grandpa in the middle.

Well, when I were a lad, I used to get up, 2 hours before I went to bed, clean all the windows, do 3 paper rounds, come home, have a bit of toast from the bird table in the garden for breakfast, clean the house, polish all the shoes my mum & dad had ( I didn't have any ), lick the front pathway till it was shining & then go to work in the factory for 26 hours a day........& if I didn't our dad used to kill me..........but you tell that to the youngsters today & they won't believe you.....................

To all you motorists out there.
When I were a lad some 65 years ago PETROL WAS 2 shillings and 11 pennies (15p today) for a GALLON.(4.2 litres)
A 2 shilling (10p) bag of chips would be enough to feed 4 people.
How times have changed. (sometimes not for the better)
Just happy as an ex-smoker to still be here to be able to write this.
Happy vaper. jeffc.

Then I'd zoom off in my sporty Ford Anglia (another reason I'm addicted to repeats of Heartbeat), looking for the girls, never found many.

Blimey you had an house with windows in it , you lucky lucky git , and toast from a bird table in your garden for breakfast, blimey, no such luxuries for this lad, we were lucky if we even found stale bread once or twice a week to feed all 18 of us,but we were never cold as the cardboard boxes were always slept in 24 yrs a day, two shifts night and day, because we hadn't enough clothes to go round so when we got up we had warm clothes to put on, mind you if you were the last one up you ended up having to wear a dress.

When I were a lad (about 3 years ago) I had all this from my old man. I shall retort with the same I gave to him. "What you had the opportunity to buy a house? You had more food for your money? Your peers weren't worthless doleys coz if they were they would starve? Bankers didn't steal your money? The lazy yobs didn't drag down the ones who tried to work? There was an industry offering jobs no matter what your skills? " Wow us youngsters are soooo lucky these days. I never realised bring forced off the property ladder and have credit thrown at us was such a privilege. Just a youngsters side of the story Regards Jez
