I forgot to add into my security software list - TRUSTEER RAPPORT. Stops key logging, recommended by my bank. Much knocking on the net (reminds me of "much binding in the marsh" ) but I like it (reminds me of... Kenneth Williams? ). scylla

LOL tbh sham ive never heard good about chrome so didnt bother with it as i heard that they had mucked up the flash. But that was a lil while back i used to love ie many moons ago but then the security flaws come about and it kinda made me think twice. I had problems with flash player a while ago but it was because my laptop had been on standby and not restarted in about a month. During that time an update had come out and it auto updates when you start chrome, I hadn't done that so didn't get the update lol

I get freezes on FF everytime I get a PM notification. So if I want a bit of time to just catch up on some threads on the forum, I turn the PM notification off - then forget to turn it back on again

Samsung X120 11.6" netbook, Windows 7 Home Premium - CPU = Intel Dual Core U4100@1.3Ghz - 3gb DDR3 RAM.
No other site does it, eg, GMail in Chrome never crashes.

Sham, the only time it happens is when the PM notification pops up. Both the pop up box & the thread I click on freezes but they do eventually load.
Medion laptop, Vista home premium. CPU Intel T2300 1.66GHZ. 1gb RAM.

My hand me down laptop does the same thing, Chrissie. It's too slow and not enough memory.
I just ordered a Dell Inspiron 15R, laptop to replace it. It's on sale, as they are clearing them out and replacing them with an updated model.
Windows 7 - 2.53 Ghz - 2 GB memory.
Edit: Intel Core I3-380M processor.

Hi, first of all look on the bottom of your laptop and there will be a small square with 1 or two screws in it, open it and carefully remove the ram. Clean the contacts on the ram then make sure there is no dust on the connections where your ram goes in. Replace the ram. Next there is a larger square with screws, open it and remove the hard drive again check all the contacts are clean. Check the vent where the fan is, if its dusty clean it with your vacum cleaner, don't put the noddle right on it but keep it about 2 inches away. Boot your laptop into safe mode, probably F8 or Del but most laptops are the F buttons. once in safe mode boot it with network, then run your virus checker etc. You could also try and restore your laptop to an earler date. You could go into your startup settings by going to the windows icon on the bottom left of your screen. go to Run or the search bar where the cursor is flashing on windows 7. type msconfig then click on startup. Look in the list and untick anything you think shouldnt be there. restart your laptop. ( if you unticked anything by mistake just go back to the msconfig and startup and retick the boxes.
