Hanow,
I just returned from holiday yesterday to a message from BT that I was close to going over my limit for June. When I visited my account I discovered that I am over it by 6.5GB!!! Just thinking about it just makes me tired.... I guess I'll hit the phone tomorrow, maybe...
I think I have the same package as you do.

You know there is one thing i did forget to mention which has just struck me when reading that from lynwit.
You do know that if you sign upto BTFON its basically giving people the freedom to use your connection?

Sorry lyn BTFON is basically a service you sign upto and if your out and about you can use other peoples connections and they can do the same.
So basically a service where you can use bt anywhere including there hotspots.

Do you know hot to get into your router? go to here: bthomehub.home/then you will see this page: Im not 100% sure if it uses the same connection but best to check and if you feel somethings not right give BT a ring (good luck). Hope this helps

NP at all lyn if i can help i will also make sure to check what devices are connected to your router. As this is something i keep check on a regular basis. It will be under connected devices and i think theres a way of checking through windows 7. But give them cal as this seems odd if youve been away but as i said just be prepared to have 3-4hours spare and take a good 10ml of ejuice to the phone with you lol. Cause by the end of it you wil have no hair left

My neighbours use my broadband/wifi A few days ago the wife asked me if it was OK to update Flash because she was trying to watch video and was getting the update box. They've been using it for at least a couple of years, I've never had any nasty messages from TalkTalk about my limit ??? Hanow, am tickled that you can now watch the birdies freely Lynda, I do hope you get that sorted pronto! Verey, I do have a 15.6" laptop but can't see myself watching TV comfortably on it. I expect it's what you get used to. I luv my 37" plasma, which was the smallest I could get at the time (buying for the World Cup like millions of others - what a let-down!) but now I wish I'd got a 50", even though it wouldn't have fitted in the flat scylla

Lyn - I hadn't realised just how much watching a video used up of my allowance. Firstly, didn't know I had an 'allowance' - which was 10 wotsit-thingies. But, found that watching the birdies' videos, endlessly, daily, rapidly etc. used up the mega-doodah-wotsit allowance. If you ring to moan, ask for explanation etc. keep on at whoever (in Bangladesh, Delhi, Calcutta - I spoke to all of them ???. But kept asking for a helpul supervisor to discuss my package. I finally got patched to someone in UK, where I was able to moan and whinge - and they understood! Having then waved the potential for me moving to Virgin, Aol etc. - saying that I had investigated 'their' costs/allowance, compared to the 'carp' version I was apparently getting from BT (all said sweetly of course ) he then offered me an upgrade that cost very little extra. So, keep moaning until you speak to someone here. Then wave other providers under their nose. Good luck, off to take ugly pooch to vet. Something wrong with his fur/skin - not nice! Mega bill on its way for that no doubt! > Hugs x

At some point I plan to get hold of a 24 inch widescreen which will be more than big enough for my needs.

Should I admit at this point that I used to work for TalkTalk as a faults advisor and we have their broadband because Mike still works for them and we get it free. *runs and hides just in case of backlash*

Lynda, I hope you did ring BT - if you haven't done so yet, as others have said, threaten to leave them saying you can find so many better offers elsewhere. Done the same with Orange some time ago - in fact it's about time I did it again ((((Hanow)))) really hope the vet has been able to help pooch Lol Collie, no need to run & hide, instead give us some more tips if you can

Well basically all the Broadband providers except virgin run on the same wires and equipment so don't let the salesmen con you into "oh our 20meg service is better than their's" as it won't be, if the exchange goes down for one provider 9 times out of 10 it goes down for them all. They will all slow your speeds down at peak times. Best bet is always going for unlimited broadband, somewhere with UK call centres and a good customer service record.
