Having a vape break just doesn't seem the same. It's only when I do something that I haven't done since I smoked that its not the same. For example, I used to have a habit when I went fishing. I used to set everything up, cast out , then sit and have a coffee and a fag. Doesn't seem the same now. I even panicked the other day cause I thought I'd left my fags at home! It's been 8 months! And gardening- last year, planting the veg, I would stop make a cup of tea, sit in the garden drinking my tea and having a fag break, admiring my little plants and when I'd finished my fag, would go back to it. This year make a cup to tea go back in garden have a quick vape get back to gardening and then my tea has gone cold!

you have to have a bit of self-discipline to achieve what you're after... it's like in work, we have to exit the building and go to the smoke-shed, so the process is the same. I too have noticed it's a bit too easy to lapse in the "habitual" way... Only you can change that - vape for the same amount of time you would have smoked a fag in, then put it away 'till it's that time again, treat it exactly like a fag, don't get drawn in to the few toots at a time more often than you would have smoked. It does work, it just takes some effort

It's been almost a year for me and I have not been able to sort that one out, yet, in my butterfly brain. Perhaps we need to think outside the box. Hope you receive some helpful replies.

There's no beginning or an end to vape is there, unlike with a ciggie, so I guess there's more of a mind set to re-program post smoking. I don't miss the fag breaks, as I'd reward myself with one every time I'd done anything . . . very little seemed to get achieved as a result. Now I vape continuously and sit on the PC here.

Hmmmm I am not missing fag breaks myself Firstly, I work at a college so everything has to be PC .... yawnnnn .... so people like me who have packed in the cigs and taken up vaping are being forced to still go and sit in the smelly smoking shelters with all the smokers .... hey ho least they haven't banned e-cigs all together .... so the process at work is still the same Secondly I do not miss having to stand outside the back door shivering in the wind and rain so am quite happy sat in front of the TV/PC vaping away so for me I don't really miss that part but yes am still finding it hard to break the association of things like .... just eaten so have cig, going into pub so get quick smoke in Instead I just turn it into boring someone to death about how good my e-cig is

Smoking is always full of rituals, that's part of what you are trying to break when stopping, the same rituals don't really transfer to vaping very well, so try and create some new ones. Try and work out the habitual aspects and make them more of a "moment" in your day.

I have relapses, usually at those times when I just KNOW it would be 'fag break'. It's then I have a few toots and the brain seems to say "oh yes, we don't smoke anymore". I always have at least a Riva/Nova in my pocket, but I did have a panic yesterday as thought I had left my charger at home. Panicking when I still had Vamo and Bolt in my bag, stupid boy

A few years ago i bought the Allan carr book on stopping smoking. It soon became obvious his whole ethos was built around smoking being something we learnt to think we like but did nt really...we just think we did.... that really bugged me to the point of not even finishing the book as i constantly thought as i read yet another affirmation from Mr Carr that i really did nt like smoking (my mind just kept saying ..."no Allan i really do actually quite like smoking and i will miss it if i succeed, but im very concious that stopping smoking not only improves my health but stops me wasting silly money in the shops on tobacco") How annoying is it to go into a shop for a few things which would cost under a fiver then remember i needed more tobacco only to find my £4.75 purchases had swelled to just shy of £20.00.? So yes i do kind of miss smoking but weighing it all up im so bloody glad to slowly move away from smoking and at some point down the line remove my dependancy on nicotine altogether. So i guess im saying its an 80/20 % decision....80 % good in stopping smoking so i can live with the 20% of missing the smoking culture.(but yes i agree that the 20% is missed sometimes) cheers

I panic when I leave the house and haven't properly checked how much juice I have. I normally always carry 2 egos and 2 clearos on me. Just in case anything happens, and I like mixing up my vapes during the day. But I don't miss my 'fag' breaks really, at work I still need to go outside, but I then get to mingle still with the smokers (the biggest problem when I have tried to give up before). But I never get tempted to have a stinky when I'm out there

Being retired, Vape Breaks can be anything from 5 minutes to all day! But I do take "breaks" no matter what I am doing. I like my breaks every half hour or so. Basically I am a lazy git and would much rather watch other people working. At the moment the guy across the back is working on his roof and there is nothing better than sitting on the swing seat in the back garden, vaping away, drinking a glass of iced pepsi while watching him sweating in the sun. On the downside I usually end up with two dogs sitting on my lap to be swung back and forward. Yes, a couple of tokes usually satisfies me, but once the dogs are there, I really don't want to disturb them as they seem so content, so a couple of tokes end up being a good half hours worth before I return to whatever mundane task I should be doing!

It's not the actual fag I miss. It's the times i would stop and have a fag. I would say to hubby, fag break and we would actually stop, sit down and have a coffee and a fag. We both enjoy vaping very much and would not go back to smoking.
When I smoked and took the dogs for a walk, I would stop, sit and have a 'fag break' and watch the dogs running about. now I just keep moving, vaping when I want, the dogs looking at me as if to say, are we not stopping?
Hubby says he's more productive, having not stopped x amount of times for a fag, vaping as he works. I think it's like markm said. It's more of a ritual. We used to do this, then have a fag. My brain still seems to think that's what I should be doing.

My most favourite way of vaping is to drip, by putting 'x' amount of drips in helps to have a beginning and an end.

I've not changed anything while at work... I still go for a 'fag break' although I'm actually vaping. It used to be 2 fags and back to work, now it's fairly extended unless I check my watch and I've gone way over the allotted time (don't tell anyone!). This way I still don't feel I've given anything up, and on a really plus note, the colleagues on the break are increasingly 'vaping' rather than 'smoking' and we're all comparing notes. When I'm at home, my 'spinner' is always beside me and I vape like a 'whore'... but my bank account is saying 'well done'. Still can't believe that in 10 months I've not had even one craving for a 'fag'.
