Hi all! I just got my first RDA delivered from clockworks and I'll be having a go at making my first wick and coil using Ekowool. Do I need to wash or burn it before use? I don't have a blowtorch to use anyway.. Another question, I have so far been using Protanks with the standard heads and wondered how one can tell when they need to be replaced? I've been using them for at least two weeks on my Provari and they seem to work just as well as when I started to use them. (Though I have soaked them in vodka and rinsed them when changing flavours) Thanks in advance.

Get hold of a cheap lighter run it across the ekowool quickly you are going to use, no need to wash, also do the same with your wire, it removes the springiness out of it, also dry burn your new wick, you don't have to do this, its down to personal choice. Change your wick when the flavour starts to subside or when you start noticing a burning taste, although I am no expert, I think this will point you in the right direction, there are so many nice guys on here who no doubt will help you.

It's also worth giving your old wick/coil a dry burn after cleaning, that is really the only way to get rid of any gunk. With ekowool dry burning works better than with ordinary silica.

After 3 attempts at coiling I managed 3.1 ohms resistance with 2mm ekowool. I'll try again later to get a lower resistance...It tastes good on my Provari!

2nd attempt tonight -1.5 ohms and the flavour from my maple juice from Mountain Vapor is truly amazing! I am really not at all technically minded but I managed to build a half decent wick and coil. I can't recommend the Clockworks RDA enough!

That was my first ' proper ' rebuildable as well Jake . . . haven't look back since, it gave a technical numpty like me the confidence I needed. Well done to you, no looking back now.
