Just thought i'd post this as I've discovered something today.
I usually use 3mm silica with a few strands on top to recoil my Protanks heads. I did some shopping yesterday and today I've tried recoiling using 2mm silica with a 2mm piece on top and it seems to work alot better straight away. I'm vaping Fluffy Nuts from ChefsVapour at 8 watts and it's tasting really good.

I tried using ekowool and it just wouldn't wick at all, but put the head into an evod and it worked fine

I made sure the wick was short enough to fit in the well that the head sits into as well. I'm not getting on with ekowool too well as no matter how much i flame it, i can't seem to get it to roll into a tube shape, and it doesn't seem to coil very well flat

Ah I'll have to try that then. Although I am very pleased with how the Protank is performing right now, probably the best since i got it.

You do not need to boil Ekowool. Flame it, then use a needle or suchlike to coil around.

Not to hijack this thread but it is pertinent, I have just done my first recoil on my protank, used 2.5 silica, getting 1.4ohms reading on my Vamo. Didn't put a wick on top and seems fine. But I have noticed something strange; ohm reading jumped to 8.6 then back to 1.4, then went 9.9 (short) unscrewed it put it back on and back to 1.4. Stays there so far. Any ideas why? Is it too much juice hitting the coil as there is no top wick? (note to self put 2more coils on next time!)

It's nothing to do with the juice, Sounds like something is touching now and again, i would re-coil if it jumps again.

Don't quote me on this but if you don't put a wick on top, it's possible that the top post could touch the coil, which would give you readings like that

That is an intermittent short, check your coil and move with a pin etc/move wick slightly as necessary.

Thanks peeps, appreciate the feed back. I haven't heard of the prob of the top post touching the coils I only thought the top wick was to prevent too much liquid getting to the coils. Still rocking at 1.3 but we will see how it goes today. Wasn't planing on such a low ohms it's just how it came out. I was getting 1.8 to 2.2 when I did this many on a my Vivi rebuilds, but I guess that's because there is less wire between the coils and the post as it's a bottom coil. Have to bear that in mind when I recoil again

If the reading comes down then it points to a short somewhere. It doesnt matter how much juice hits the coil, nothing can increase the resistance reading of the coil other than a bad connection. Probably a 510 connection problem or possibly where the legs of the coil come through the head. If the coil is touching the tube somewhere it will bring the resistance down, might actually pop the coil. A few turns of the coil touching will also bring the resistance reading of the coil down a little, hope this helps gapy360
