Got home today after my new SS GG was delivered on Tuesday, like a kid at Xmas! What a lovely bit of kit I thought, nice and shiny and a great weight to it. Opened it up, slid a 18650 into it, unscrewed the top cap to put a 510 on and ???, won't go in. Genuine Joye attie as well. Clearo, straight in no problem. DCC straight in too. Bulli A2, no chance. Out of 3 Tornado battery extenders I have, 1 screwed in. I've ended up with an extender and an arry tank on top. Also, when I screwed the body down, I could just see the threads on the tube, whipped the 18650 out and swapped it for a 18500. Has anybody else had these kind of faults with theirs?

Mine were a bit stiff at first but after a screwing the atties on and off a bit the threads have smoothed out. Not sure what you mean about the threads with the body.

When you screw the bottom section up to tighten the battery, I can just (only just mind) see the threads on the telescopic tube. I had an earlier model that you couldn't. I'm not over bothered about that Lee, but the atty threads are worrying me.

I've had a go with one of my 18650's and I don't see any threads. I start from the top down. I screw the atty in, then attach the collector to the top section and so on. Lastly tightening the body down onto the bottom part.

I just tried it with an imr 18650, it's slightly shorter than the trustfire ones so I'll stick with that. What atties have you tried on yours Lee?

I have tried 510's and 901's. I've also tried a dual coil carto, that works fine. I've got no complaints at all. If your threads don't smooth out maybe shoot Cam or Imeo an e mail and see what they say.

I've emailed Cam just to let him know in case I need to send the cap back. I've not tried a 801 or 901 on it. Dcc's and clearo's go on, they go a bit tight then screw in ok. Others won't even attempt to screw in at all, especially my bulli which I wanted to use on it.

The centre pin moves up and down - it's advisable to unscrew the battery holder - take the collection tank off, in other words, and then pull the pin back until it's well below the height you think it needs to be. Screw in your atty, and then push the centre pin back up to meet it. Then replace the battery holder section, screwing in the top part, and tighten up the telescope until the atty fires...

My threads were really tight when I first got it. I don't know if there were really tiny burrs in them.
I was a bit wary of screwing the atty in too hard but went ahead anyway as I would have had a rather fancy paperweight otherwise. I cleaned the connector threads down as best I could and rubbed them with vaseline. I then slowly screwed the atty down, working it back and forth. I was just really careful to make sure I wasn't cross threading it. It's perfect now.
I'd stick with whatever you have that works though until Cam gets back to you. He might offer to replace it or have a proper fix.

Thanks for that Lee, i'm going to sit there for an hour tomorrow trying to get them free without ruining it. Thanks hifi, it's not the centre pin at fault though. I can pull the pin right down to the bottom, it's the threads that are very tight. Even the outside 801 threads are rough.

Just sat here for a hour screwing in all sorts of 510 atties. In out and so forth for ages. It's worked, must have had a burr inside. Now every 510 goes in, some are tighter than others but at least they go in now. Phewww, don't have to send it back!

Glad you got sorted Blue. When you think how fine the threads are it must only take a tiny piece of steel to cause problems.

blue, the connector will open. If you want to open it a little more you can screw-unscrew several times an old 510 to make them wider.
