So all those people saying "Stay calm" I'm sorry I can't and here is why : Taken from the MHRA Press release - Jeremy Mean, the MHRA’s Group Manager of Vigilance and Risk Management of Medicines, said: "Reducing the harms of smoking to smokers and those around them is a key Government health priority. Our research has shown that existing electronic cigarettes and other nicotine containing products on the market are not good enough to meet this public health priority. So what he is saying is that there is NOTHING currently available that will pass the legislation they are looking to pass, NOTHING, this means EVERY E-cigarette currently on the market will not be able to be sold. OK, you say "the vendors can get a license" here's the bad news : It will cost around £200,000 for a vendor to get a SINGLE ITEM through the licensing process, so EVERY juice flavour £200k, every atomiser £200k, every carto £200k, every tank £200k. There will only be one industry that will be able to afford this; TOBACCO companies, you know, the companies that have been killing us for years. And here's a real farcical fact, I quote: "Once licensed by the MHRA, electronic cigarettes and other NCPs will be available for sale as over-the-counter medicines and for healthcare professionals to recommend as Nicotine Replacement Therapy." Did you know it's LEGAL to sell NRT products to 12 year old Children? Full press statement HERE

This is effectively banning liquids, all you'll be able to get is cartridges for E-cigs sold by the Tobacco companies. Or how about all the potential and existing Vapers that do not have the technical knowledge on how to assemble them?

To me it reads that they are only going after nicotine containing products, thus pre-filed Carto's and liquids. There is no way they can ban a battery as they do not contain nicotine, neither do atties until someone fills them up.

True, but taking the alturistic view this will at least severely limit what a newcomer will be able to buy, thus less people vaping thus more lives lost.

kirrielad the actual definition of the product has not been made clear yet. A bottle of juice or nic base could be classified as a nicotine containing product theoretically As well as this part of medicinal qualification will be a sealed system that proves through regulated manufacture that there is no possibility of tampering. Even cigalikes would fail since you can pop the back of the carto off. The other requirement will be the ability of the delivery system to regulate the nicotine content I suspect On a positive note batteries, wick, wire will still be available since they have other users. As does PG and VG. Good mods that you own now should last you - its the juice that is the issue. ... people should calm down until the dust settles, the TPD is finalised and legal challenges put together. Whilst this happens, take reasonable precautions I would suggest.

So.... In effect back again to the only thing we would have problems accessing is nicotine. Potentially correct and your preferred strength / mix / delivery mechanism if you buy after 2016 I will stress however that as I understand it, MHRA can do nothing until the TPD directive is put in place with the 4mg rule. They have been weakening on this however the MHRA statement might strengthen the supporters of the original TPD. The issue is the classification of nicotine as a medicine. This classification has been overuled in courts in Germany, Netherlands and Estonia. Legal precedence has been set but it is not a guaranteed failsafe. What is also unclear is that there is currently a clause in the TPD to allow local country laws to implement harsher regulation. As I said, we need to assess what will happen and continue to harass the MEPs - this is what the Pharma's and Tobacco companies are doing. They have money, we have numbers.

I think that it might be a good idea to emphasis the possibilities of driving users underground to access nicotine. Sounds ridiculous I know, but lets be honest, if push came to shove, many of us would rather do that than go back to fags. The powers that be would look somewhat ludicrous driving people like us into being criminals tantamount to drug addicts if they get their way.

Des is it not the Manufactures of the items that have to get them liscenced if they wish to sell them IF the rules came into force, not the vendors, I mean quick fit don't do the tests for Michelin do they. Vendors would have to pay for a distribution fee though, still expensive but not those ammounts. Keep Calm and have a Vape Des.
