Engstrom and Fjellner are the 2 MEP connected with Taylor/Davies ammendments 1167-.... The 10 pages of MEP on ENVI as you rightly say includes substitutes . It will be the whole ENVI committee that debates and votes In your earlier post matt1988 you mentioned the scientific studies that MHRA were quoting If you look at the press release , there is a separate link to Nicotine Containing Products , then a whole raft of PDF docs are available One of which contains MHRA funded studies ( 44 page doc of 2 studies ) - in there contains the findings , largely concentrating on nic. content in liquids and inhalation- The conclusions stated that e-cigs safe , same as in the risk assessment report looking at the consequences of certain actions (they have adopted the wrong one)

OK this is my interpretation.
1) MHRA have made it very clear they do not understand the current devices available. but they do appreciate this so have a solution, they will redefine the problem.
2) they have created their own notion of what an e cigarette might be, and more importantly what it is meant to do. They are determined it is a cessation device, not a harm reduction one, and which is probably very similar to something currently in development by one or more farma co. they are possibly only interested in a single, as yet non existent, product coming to market.
3) It is going to take about 2 1/2 years for said product to be ready to market, it will be the only acceptable product in the MHRA new view on what an E cig is and what it is meant to do.
4) The current situation can continue as it is just a fad, growing the market for the NEW IMPROVED REDEFINED big farma product is just a happy coincidence.

Maybe it is time to really start promoting all our various devices as nothing to do with Ecigs!! We could send photos en mass to all concerned and ask them what they think is in the photo and when they say its an ECIG tell them NO!! It is a personal vaporiser and NOTHING to do with cigarettes in any capacity. That should get them head scratching.

And maybe wondering how they could regulate them Dolly . . . this decision hasn't been taken in our best interests, nor the potential future vapers either who've now had their choices for a healthier option to tobacco severely restricted. Not to mention the implications the decision could have for Vendors whose livelihood depends upon the current and an expanding ecig market.

I would love to know what kind of devices the free market will come up with by 2016, but the MHRA will tell me they don't /wont work, not as they view "working".

I suspect that a big part of it is the "dose" issue. they think the device needs to exactly meter the specific dose, and have that in turn marked on the packaging. What they don't grasp is that the user is the regulator element, not enough, take more puffs until satisfied. By the same principle they could take over water/food/coffee/tea/sunlight...........they are mad with power these people!

Oh yeah none of the current devices work, but I've not had even a puff of a tobacco cig since 1.5 days after trying a personal vapouriser, 14 months and counting. You will not get my money you Barons and EU parasites.

Hmm the debate will go on, but I can't help thinking that all this concern for my health couldn't have anything to do with the fact since I stared vaping I have over £5,500 that I haven't spent on fags or that I have lost the need for all the stop smoking pills, patches, sprays, and chewing gum that never worked.
Sorry but I have found something that works for me and I'm not on my own...!

The likes of the evic already have puff counters. I am 100% certain exact doses could be incorporated with little effort.

It's simple greed ... despite all the facts, the MHRA think differently ... the Tobacco's / Pharma's are clearly bunging them dosh to protect their businesses - natural logic is being cast aside. 2016 gives them time to go to market and preserve their respective revenues and for the government to obtain extra tax. Our desires or logic have nothing to do with this in their mind currently. It's lobbying and dollars. This is the way politics works and always has done.
