To all the people on this forum who are building panic over the statement the MHRA made yesterday, you need to seriously calm down; this attitude is simply scaremongering and shows a lack of understanding of the process. The MHRA do not have the authority to regulate ecigs as medicines in the UK. They are engaging in propaganda to try and influence the EU decision. This decision will be made in Europe and what was released by the MHRA was simply an ADVISORY note, even though they phrased it as law, it is not. This has gone to court in 4 countries within the EU so far and has been rejected on the point that ecigs ARE NOT medicines. Even the JURI committee have stated that they cannot be reclassified as medicines.
If you have any concerns list them in this post and I will endeavour to put your minds at rest.

Thank You so much for that information MP.
Am I right in thinking the MRHA proposal will be kibosh.

Thank you @mp2012. A bit of sanity. The panic is understandable in a way, no different to when heavy snow is forecast

I have a question... How come hotdogs come in tins / jars of 8, fridge section vacuum sealed packs of 10 but hotdog buns only come in packs of 12?
As you can see, I'm not too worried at the moment (and I'm also routing through my cupboards in the kitchen) lol

Thank You so much for that information MP. Am I right in thinking the MRHA proposal will be kibosh. It is important to remember that ecigs are a small part of the TPD; we will have a reading on the 11th july and then it will move forward to the next part of the process. BUT, it could easily get pushed back for a second reading if plain packing of cigarettes or any other part of the TPD gets bounced and then it all starts again.

MP there has only been a handful of people panicking and buying up nicotine all over the place in fear. In respects to planning an organised fight against the EU ruling against us whenever it may be, I see no issue in wanting to plan an organised action like Roger proposed to represent US the consumer. Your organisation is not there to represent us.

MP thanks for the reply Quick question. By saying that it can be pushed back for a second reading. How many readings can a proposal have before a ruling is finalised and how long did it take Germany and the Dutch to overrule.

It is true that ECITA does not represent the consumer, but I do use this forum over any other forum, I see the members as my friends and I post to alleviate the concerns of my friends.

That's fair enough and nothing wrong with that. From your OP though, it is not clear who you are referring to as panicking, or, in what sense. You may or may not have read a post I made earlier where I thought it would be good for ECITA and ECCA to get together and fight for the good of all of us, but for some reason which totally baffles me, neither wants to know the other.

How many readings can a proposal have before a ruling is finalised and how long did it take Germany and the Dutch to overrule. Off the top of my head I think it's 3 readings and the German and Dutch rulings were overruled within 3 months.

On the contrary, ECITA has been liaising with the old and the new ECCA throughout this entire process.
