Just had an annoying card left by the Royal Mail. Last week, I purchased a 10ml. bottle of juice from a member over on UKV, paid the £5 he wanted but it did not arrive before I went away for a week. When I got back, my post contained a Royal Mail card to say that I needed to pay an extra £2.70 for a package. I suspect it is the juice I was expecting. I have sent a PM to the seller who informed me that he had used a "Large Letter" stamp and packed it in a padded envelope??? Now I know for a fact that a 10 ml. bottle in a padded envelope is thicker than the 25mm. that is the limit for large letter. Why do we have this obsession with padded envelopes. You can send a bottle of juice in an ordinary paper envelope, in fact you can send several and still keep under the 25mm. limit, and all for 90p The juice comes in a sturdy plastic bottle, it does not need padding. Just roll it up in some cling film and twist the top and bottom, pop it in a standard envelope, jobs a good un! If you are still worried about damage to the bottle, then cut a toilet roll centre tube down its length, roll it tight around the juice bottle, tape the joint, fold in the ends and tape them, label and post. If you have several bottles then use a kitchen roll insert, still goes for 90p. I hate giving the Royal Mail any more than I have to. The trusted UKV seller has offered to refund the extra £2.70, and I feel bad that it would almost have been cheaper to tip the juice down the sink. So think on!

I use my own RM template by cutting a 25mm. slot in a piece of corrugated cardboard so I am able to test everything I send by post to make sure it falls through easily, then I know it will go by large letter for 90p first class.

Also there is no need to actually use round bottle. If they specified I'm sure they could get the oval bottles in bulk with child proof caps.

Cloud9 sell bottles that have a flattened shape but expensive. I agree that if vendors wanted them, then they could get them. But whilst we are happy to accept some of the vendors disproportionate postal costs, then there is no incentive for them to supply. I would rather pay a few extra pennies for the juice in a flatter bottle and save on the postage......I am sure it could be done.

I've sent several 10ml bottles of eliquid by large letter in a padded envelope recently Greigster, they've gone through the RM ' window ' absolutely fine . . . I just tightly wrap the bottles with cling film incase of any leakage. The recipients probably have a heck of a job un-clingfilming them though.

I try and recycle my padded envelopes Perps, and I must say they vary greatly in their thickness. It depends on the size of your bubbles.

THESE are great, you can send 4x10ml bottles first class for 90p and are less than 20p each. I bought a drip tip off of someone on here and it was sent in a plastic bag in a regular envelope and the envelope arrived with a split in it and no contents. Those plastic ones are virtually indestructible and if there is a minor leak will not go soggy.
