Last year with Kwik Fit at they were the cheapest. Just come to renew with a different company only to find that cheeky bloody Kwik fit have already taken payment and £100 more than my best quote! Phoned to complain and cancel, waiting for the £25 cancellation fee only to be told they can do the same cover for £125 less than they've charged me and will refund the difference! Now got it cheaper than my cheapest quote Always complain, it can pay well

Yeah they automatically renew it unless you tell them to cancel it. We always haggle with the insurance companies it's amazing how much they will knock off the quoted price.

So true Dee. I regularly have a moan now when companies do things like this. Usually there was something in the original agreement, buried in the small print - and not made clear that it was there - which signed you up to an ongoing policy/agreement. My BT issue of last week - where they were saying that I was using too much 'internet juice' (only because I was watching the birdies) - and they were about to start charging me huge extras. I phoned and had a rant - also mentioning Virgin and AOL as alternatives, and lo-and-behold, I could get the all-singing-dancing package for the same price! These companies do rely upon people not totally understanding,, nor questioning, their original agreement. Banks and Building Societies are the same. I was recently mortified to find that my Nationwide savings account had dropped from paying 2.5% (pathetic anyway - but such are interest rates at the moment) to 0.5%. I phoned up, voiced my dissatisfaction, and again, lo-and-behold: 'Are you aware of this product? You could transfer your savings to that." So now, back to 2.5%. It took me two hours to sort it all though. meanwhile, whilst closing one account and opening the other - my saving were in banking limbo - receiving nothing!!

I resolved the savings issue by changing my mortgage over to 'The One Account' best thing I ever did. My mortgage payments are a pittance now and the money's still there if I want to use it, plus I can pay the mortgage off totally at any time (if I had the dosh) without incurring any penalties

I had the same Dee, with the old person's insurance company . . . and in some ways, like you - they did me a favour. After a stiff phone call of complaint, where I mentioned the Financial Ombudsman . . . I got a really, really good deal.

I'm sick of insurance companies. Took Mike 3 hours to get them to say "yes we will come and pick up your bike to get a repair estimate on it"
It costs a fortune and then when you need to use it they make it stupidly impossible.

You've my complete sympathies Collie . . . the only insurance that I've had positive experience of, has been Sammy's pet one . . . all the others have been a nightmare to deal with, when there has been a problem.

They act like they are doing you a favour too, we are the customers! We give you large amounts of money for a service, at least try to be helpful!! We had the same with car insurance a couple of years ago when some silly girl reversed into the side of our car because she didn't know what mirrors were!

Don't they just Collie, really annoying that attitude. > When I moved 8 or so years ago . . . the removal man who came the day before to help me 'pack up' stole a gold watch of mine that was my Grandmother's . . . of course I couldn't prove that he actually had done the deed and he of course protested his innocence. But there was no one else other than him who had access to it. When I tried to claim on the House Insurance and the extra insurance I paid the removal company for the day my possessions were in their hands . . . I came away completely empty handed, because of one clause or another.

That's disgraceful Perp! Unfortunately it happens a lot, they will find a reason to not pay out no matter how trivial.
My next door neighbour was followed by a private investigator, hired by an insurance company that was trying to prove he wasn't as injured as he said he was, even though he needed a double knee replacement!! I spotted them sat outside his house taking pictures through his living room window so went round to his back door to tell him.
