I have just bought my first protank from vape escape. The tank was washed out with warm soapy water, rinsed & left to dry. filled it & left it to soak for a couple of mins. set the voltage on my spinner to 4.3v. The vape was good, Airy as most say, with loads of vape cloud, I'm well chuffed. So time to play with the voltage, I wind the spinner up to 4.8v, even more clouds, wow! I don't care about the airy draw, look at all this vapor! There is a hint of machine oil taste, did I wash it out properly? or is it some wierd sub taste from the Dekang double mint but, I have never had that using any of my evods. Oh well, maybe its bedding in. 30-40 tokes later, Yuck! burnt taste, Turned the voltage down to 4.3v, 2-3 puffs just to clear that awful taste but to no avail. I have had to wind the voltage down to 3.8v to stop it from wicking but the vape is poor. After vaping a full tank at 3.8v and increasing the voltage progresively but it still is wicking. Can anyone help! Please?

Might not be your problem but i ve found (and not just with the protank) theres a fine line between getting the best out of the vv and overdoing it and it tasting slightly burnt. I just changed the liquid, another clean out and dry burned and all came good again

Super-Shiny should be able to help. Im not a pro tank person so can't really help. I know there is something you can do with either adding or taking away some wick that helps and im sure there is a limit on how mych you fill it for best results. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2

You've probably burnt the wick and that burnt taste is very hard to shift. Did you get any spare heads with it? If you did pop one in there, put your burnt one in some warm water with a denture cleaning tablet or some bicarbonate of soda this may shift the taste. If it does not no biggie get another £2 head.
In general I don't vape much above 4.2v there's no point, you just end up burning stuff!

Sounds like you nuked the wick to high heaven, i would change the head or re-wick it if you can or give it a good clean and dry burn it.

I only use VV devices, but no matter what atomiser I have on top, I always start them off at the lowest voltage to gently break them in....and slowly raise the power as necessary.
Not had a burnt wick or carto since.

If it was 2.2, 12 watts is a lot to whack through it when new. The high reading now is a result of knacking it!!! Just because you have VV/VW, it doesn't mean you have to microwave it

Kaaru's advice is spot on . . . if it's a VV/VW device that has an ohm's checking option, I also normally start at the lowest setting, check the ohms and go from there FV. But, it's another thing you pick up as you go along.
