If anyone is ever unable to get Capella's VC any time . . . then TPA's Vanilla Custard is also extremely yummy and moreish. If anything it's a slightly more intense custard flavour than Capella's I find. Greendollar uses it in his VC recipe.

Hi dc84 the wait can be frustrating but it will be worth it, i currently have a batch of VC steeping now, iirc its on day 22 so only a few more days now, its already gone a deep orange colour. also what part of sunny Bedfordshire u from, i am in Houghton Regis/Dunstable Hi jcol, Thats going to be the tough part but I'm sure its going to be worth the agony of waiting! Won't be so bad once the first few batches are ready as I'll have a constant stockpile! I'm from Sandy by the way .

Snap, same as me, my first batch was 50ml, then i waited 2 weeks and done another batch, so i will always have some in reserve and i wont mind if it has a 4 week + steep. Nice little town Sandy, i have been there a few times with football. Good luck

Right, i couldnt wait any longer and had to try my VC mix, kind of glad i did. While its nice i am not happy with it. No where near sweet enough and the flavour seems a bit bland to me so i have added 10 drops of EM and 5 drops each of DDL (Dulce De Leche) and VC and will try again in a couple of days (50ml mix). Didnt try anyone's recipe off here as i had no Vanilla flavouring so just went with
Capella VC 15% DDL 3% EM 2%

Have you measured your flavouring with a syringe or by drops? Why did you make such a large volume to start with as well when you've not followed a recipe, 10ml would have been far better until you'd got a feel for the flavours and what suits your tastes.

I know Perpetua , there is a big custard thread over on ukvapers and i decided to go with what the posters were saying there, that was before i got active on here and seen that most of the VC recipes on here have vanilla in them as well. Hindsight and all that Its been steeping for 18 days now, just thought it would be a fail safe recipe lol. its not a disaster yet, its nearly there, just think it needs more flavouring and therefore will have to add more nic as well just need to work out the amounts

Ah well . . . better late than never to where the real Custardy action is I suppose Jcol. For goodness sake though, decant some off into smaller bottles to tweak further otherwise you're just going to get in a right old mess trying to get 50ml right.

A little Custardy tweak if anyone fancy's trying it . . . divide your sweetener volume between your sweetener of choice and Vanillin Crystals. I think they make a VC mix even nicer, that bit creamier and a more intense vanilla flavour. www.leisureliquids.com/pavanillin.html20-25% Capella VC 6% TPA French Vanilla Deluxe 1% Sweetener 1% Vanillin Crystals

Thanks Perpetua, I've just made my first little 10ml mix Using those percentages for flavours, I switched TPA french vanilla deluxe for some Capella french vanilla and currently have it steeping.

If u can wait, give it at least 3 weeks for the yummyness to come through. Update for my VC, its been 2 weeks now since i added the FVD and its made a major difference, just tried it tonight and its lovely, not quite GVC but not far off it. So thanks everyone for the help in rescuing my VC.

Good to hear gents. Personally I don't think you can beat natural steeping for VC mixes, 3-4 weeks I give mine as a rule. But if it gives you something to be going on with whilst you get another batch on the go Pyr, that's the main thing. Most of us Custard lovers tend to have a production line of the stuff.

heres my take on VC. I liked Perps VC I also liked GD's VC. (Little too much Butterscotch for me) I mixed a portion of both together as a test and really really liked it.... so i tried to recreate the portion mix and this is what resulted. A variation on the VC's called Prom's VC lol
