Diluting Nicotine Level

Hi all,

I'm going to order some Hangsen flavour concentrate to put with a base of USA mix from MISTELIQUID.

I understand that the flavour will dilute the nicotine so I'm just trying to figure out if I should stick with the 18mg or go up to 24mg?

It says 5-7% for DIY on the flavour so would I be right in thinking that to make 10ml I would need 9.3-9.5ml of USA mix and 0.5-0.7ml of flavour?

So if there is 18mg/1ml, the above would mean I'd be using 0.93-0.95ml of USA mix and getting 16.74-17.1mg/1ml?

Any mathematicians out there who could confirm or otherwise?

Your maths looks OK to me. I think going to 24 would probably be too much.

I doubt if the 5-7% figure is worth much. I haven't used Hangsen, but many flavour suppliers say 5% or 10%. I find I need 20% total flavouring.

You presumably don't yet know how much flavour you'll want to add. I guess too much will swamp the USA mix taste. I'd start with a few ml at 5% (not worrying about nic strength at this stage), steep it a few days and see what it tastes like, then add more flavour or mix (keeping a record of what you are doing), give it a couple more days and try that until you have a % that you like.

If you do need 5% or less of flavour then the change in nic strength probably isn't worth worrying about imo. If you need more flavour than that then you could buy some 24 mg and add it to the mix - I make it about 3 parts 24mg to 1 part flavour to bring it back to 18mg - so for instance if you decide you need 1 ml flavour to 10 ml of 18mg USA mix, you'd need to add 3ml of 24mg to bring up the nic strength. Now you've reduced the flavour, so add another .4 ml of flavour and another 1ml of 24mg and you should be about right.

I read on another forum that people were settling about 5-10% with the Hangsen so will just have to see how it steeps and see what it tastes like!!

If you fancy going into mixing from scratch anyway I wouldn't buy the 24mg. If you find the mix with just 18mg isn't giving you the buzz or throat hit, buy some nic. Buy a syringe (10ml, 14 guage needle) too - you don't really need anything else to start mixing except bottles, which you presumably have already, and PG or VG & you can get the VG from Tescos

I buy bulk Hangsen and Dekang liquid in 100% PG @ 18mg then dilute with VG and my own flavours to 12mg, works out great and extremely cheapo (just like me).

The Hangsen is quite a strong flavour and you can dilute it quite a bit without the flavour suffering I've found so I would go with a 5% test at first on your dilutant. You can mix that separate as said above and test it first before mixing with the Hangsen.

Lets say you were going to make a 100ml mix I would go with this myself:

Hangsen 24mg....75.00 ml (75.00%)
Dilutant.............22.50 ml (20.00%)
Flavour...............2.50 ml (5.00%)

Your totals would always be 75% Hangsen to 25% dilutant so if you change the flavour always work to those figures.
