Do coils pop just due to old age or are there other reason why they break.
Thanks

The number one reason for coils "popping" is a short. Coils usually pop when one filament or turn of wire gets super hot. If your talking coils popping on an SS wick - it's 99.99% sure it's a short. If your talking about silica wicks - the silica usually gives up long before the coil so again probably a short.
The thinner the wire the more chance of popping.
Can a coil just "pop" due to old age? Prrobably, nothing lasts forever.

If you try and shove too many volts or watts for a coils resistance to handle, then that can also be another reason why they go pop Hardy.

You will probably find you change the head due to loss of taste / gunking up long before the coil itself gives up

I have had the odd one 'pop' when dry burning, but that probably, as perps says, just me shoving too many voles into too small a space.

What atomisers were they Hardy . . . what resistance and voltage were you running them at? Though I have to say, it always was one of the downsides to atomisers, their somewhat unpredictable lifespan.

The evod was brand new from vapescape and the protank i bought s/h off the classified. I dont mind to much its an escuse to have a go at re coiling etc

Are you certain that your device was running at 4v's? But as you say, it's a good opportunity to have a go at rebuilding, I'm sure you've seen Rom's most excellent thread. allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/22461/evod-protank-tips-tricks?page=1
