I was already banned from zyban due to stomach issues so I really will go back to smoking if I can't continue with e cigs.

It was champix she was promoting today, I told her I didn't want pills with side effects, she said they can make you have vivid dreams but a lot of people find that amusing. I said I had heard they had more serious side effects ( I have read about them ) she said no. She showed me a card how you use them. I repeated I didn't want pills twice so we moved onto the other nrt stuff. By the way I don't know if she is a nurse, I don't know what she is at all in all honestly, I presumed she was a nurse but she never said.

Just tried to quote karmas post to reply, heaven knows how you do it 'cos I can't lol. Karma I am expecting sarcasm as I know what our gp practice is like. I will not have them talk down to me about vaping though, so will not tell them unless I feel I want to

I guess she didn't mention the "vivid dreams" are of killing yourself or someone else did she?

If you do see her again and she goes on about champix you can ask her about the hundreds of people who have attempted suicide on it as well as many more who had mental breakdowns. The makers have settled out of court for more than $270 million dollars so far from litigation claims. www.truthwillout.co.uk/2012/05/champix-the-terror-continues/

Don't worry Sammy, the nurse was just giving advice as per N.I.C.E. guidelines. Most Health Care Professionals will give the same advice as they don't want to be seen stepping out of line. I've been nursing for twenty five years now, smoked for all of them. Tried patches, gum, inhalators, zyban, champix, cold turkey, acupuncture and hypnotherapy but never managed to quit my 40 a day habit for more than a couple of days. I've been vaping for a month now and smoked my last cigarette over a week ago! I can assure you that if there was evidence proving that vaping was more harmful than smoking, the MHRA wouldn't be regulating it in the future - they would be banning it. I just wish I'd started vaping before now... My breathing is better, skin is fresher, teeth whiter, I have more cash and I don't stink.
Screw N.I.C.E. Guidelines!

It was the suicide stories I was referring to when I mentioned side effects but I didn't actually say it. She said vivid dreams that people often find amusing and feeling sick are the only problems. If you take them with food it stops the sickness, and if you take them earlier in the evening you don't have the dreams so really there are no side effects. I told her they don't have a very good success rate and she replied she doesn't know what I've been reading because they do. I had the definite feeling that was what she wanted me to walk out with.

Good on ya phiant101, well done. I have friends who are nurses who have also basically told NICE to get lost (mentally) and now use e cigs, and many are torn about them not being even talked about sensibly in their work places.

On a note, the psychiatric people seem far more clued up than other medical people. My psychiatrist is delighted I'm self dosing my nicotine - she mentioned she often has to direct GPs to increase doses of nicotine to patients of her and her colleagues are the same. While she wasn't up on them as such she knew what they were are considered them a good option, which is more than you get from many of the "professionals" Oh and I don't know if she is one but many of the people running these quit courses aren't even qualified medical people, they are glorified social workers with little actual medical knowledge, just a couple of days a month training to do the job. Bang on there vereybowring, and I know that for a FACT! A lady I know has been moved from the department she worked in and given the job as a 'quit-smoking-nurse'. She hadn't got a clue about the job and asked me about ecigs and were they any good. You couldn't make it up

Since I've seen the blatant lies WHO, NICE, BMA, MHRA etc are using to ban/regulate e-cigs I've lost all trust in them. I don't believe a single word the shisters say now. I'll add numerous NHS trusts, cancer research charities, a few of the "experts" in tobacco control and "health ministers" in the ENVI committee and ASH to the list of liars

Nurse is probably trying to scare monger as she is probably trying to keep her job as she knows that Vaping is the way forward and we don't need nurses to help us vape
