For starters you really have done extremely well and don't allow the ignorance of someone who is totally uneducated on FACTS to tell you otherwise.
If I were you, I would print off one of the many articles explaining exactly what is in eliquid and shove it in her hand next time you see her. When you do, tell her it's HER turn to get educated and informed and stop behaving like a NHS dinosaur.

Well done on the vaping journey, nhs nrt's are crap ive tried loads of times with them and failed the e-cig was the one that worked for me and tbh i love it.

Just carry on what your doing if you feel happy, do not let the jumped up bitch tell you different.

So let me get this straight, she said you dont know what chemicals and nicotine you are inhaling while vaping but she is quite happy to supply something even she doesn't know what is in it?? My wife works in a vaping shop and we have one doctor in wrexham sending people in for ecigs as he said "off the record they are better than anything i could prescribe, Come back and see me in two weeks and let me know how you are getting on", and both the people he said that to smoked 60 a day each.

My wife has seen an NHS stop smoking nurse because she's pregnant and to the nurses due was totally cool with vaping and impressed I had done it for so long.
The only experience she had with e-cigs was her brother tried to switch to a look-alike and didn't stick to it.


Those crap look-alikes seem to cause more bad press and trouble than they are worth sometimes!

Firstly congratulations on giving up the ciggies!

When it comes to smoking, it seems the 'experts' are best avoided. A recent poll showed that 40% of GPs actually believed that nicotine is a dangerous carcinogen - in fact recent studies show that it's on a par with caffeine and alcohol (quite innocuous except in extreme toxic doses).

The whole of the NHS it seems is now only interested in statistics. The patients' individual needs no longer matter - only the particular NHS Trust's place in the league table. They need you to tick ALL of their boxes or they don't get points on the scoreboard. As far as they are concerned there is Only One Way (official NRT products).

Now that we know that nicotine is not a deadly substance it's rather interesting to watch the behaviour of a lot of healthcare professionals and anti-smoking pressure groups. You might think that, now there is a far safer way for people to take nicotine, they would turn their full attention to getting cigarettes banned from sale - but no (not for a moment!) they much prefer to attack vaping (the safer alternative). They seem genuinely furious at the idea that we can have our cake and eat it (take nicotine through ecigs without killing ourselves). That says a lot about them and their real motivation - so much for the Hippocratic Oath!

I wish you Good Luck in continuing to avoid tobacco - personally I think you should feel proud that you no longer inhale cigarette smoke, whatever route you used to get to that place!

I tried conventional NRT and failed. If you wish to follow that path then I wish you good luck - but remember if you are not smoking cigarttes that is a huge victory in itself. Nothing else really matters

Sammy i echo the comments.You HAVE done VERY well at stopping Smoking.The Gp is just after their QOF Points to get extra money for themselves.They DO know how useless Smoking Cessation Products are,but they dont care,just by getting you on the Cessation bandwaggon they have got their money irrespective of your success or lack of it.Bin the inhalator,stick to vaping and cancel the Appointment.When you next see them,just point out how well you have done.Happy Vaping.

However we can test her credentials in the field of tobacco harm reduction by you just mentioning Prof. Jean Francois Etter as well as the link to where she can read the study. If she doesn't know who he is then she useless at her job since he is probably the top researcher in europe.

Just a thought, depends how vindictive you feel.
If you mention him and she doesn't know you can mention he is one of the top people in tobacco study and quitting and even gave evidence to the EU ENVI committee.

I would but then I never would have let her talk to me like that anyway - she would have been reported for professional misconduct before I even left the building.

EDIT: Forgot to say, well done, to defend yourself from the zealousy ignorant I'm afraid you possibly need to read some of the fine articles about the place yourself. I'd start with some of the clivebates.com stuff as he explains things as simply as he can (I suspect he thinks the opposition is hard of thinking).
