I'd be fired by the NHS in no time for not pimping NRT, but my patients would be a lot happier than most who go to Stop smoking clinics. I'd be giving out prescriptions for Egos and clearos all day, I'd get the 1.3m vapers higher hehe ! Oh just re-read the thread and you mean to sign up for the clinic as a patient. lol I don't think they'd want me for long and they might wonder my motives for joining

I had been smoking cigs for over 30 years and I was never going to stop...I was diagnosed with COPD and tried to quit with patches, gum, and Chantix....none worked. I just kept puffing on. My Brother said since I wasn't going to stop, try vaping...What the heck, I will give it a shot...why not...nothing to lose...Amazingly, After 1 month of vaping I had quit smoking altogether...I loved all the flavors of vaping and hated the old tobacco smell that once premeated my cloths, my house, and my body...I told my Doctor what I had done and He said that most of the poisons/carcinogens were in the tars and He would keep an eye on me...After 6 months of vaping, I feel 100% better...No more morning coughing fits, my appetite has returned, and my house no longer stinks...Doc says the jury is still out but for me....Keep on vaping.

Yes, kibbster, after reading your earlier post. You could give them what for politely point out the benefits of vaping.

That's the thing, I know I feel better and I know it works. I also know from on here and lots of friends that vape, I'm not the only one. In fact all the people that I know that vape. 100% of them know they are happier vaping than smoking... or we'd all be smoking.
How dare anyone suggest I don't know that I'm feeling happier and healthier and that they might be bad for me!

I don't know what I am , a mixture of all 3 I think. Why well- before I started vaping my doc made me an appointment at a stop smoking clinic. Today was the day so I went along anyways to tell them how well I had done in just a few weeks going from 20 a day to just one. I figured they would add to my experience and be of support if things started to wobble ever. I told my story and produced my equipment for her to see. She basically told me, I hadn't stopped at all, I had just swapped one addiction for another. I am now inhaling who knows what chemicals and nicotine, and I have to quit vaping. After an hour pleading my case, totally deflated I walked out with a new appointment and a request form to supply me with an inhalator which she expects me to start using instead of vaping next week, and then by magic in 2 weeks I will be cured and will not want to puff on anything. I thought I had done really well, and despite all the niggles I actually really enjoy vaping. I even told her you don't have to have any nicotine in them but she was totally against them full stop. Now I just feel totally useless and confused. HAVE to? HAVE?!? I would of told her to shove her inhaler up her arse, no one is going to tell me i HAVE to do anything, what a major god complex. So she gave you an inhaler? Was it the Quickmist thing? Quickmist IngredientsPropylene glycolAnhydrous ethanol Trometamol Poloxamer 407 GlycerolSodium hydrogen carbonate Levomenthol Mint flavourCooling flavour Sucralose Acesulfame potassium Hydrochloric acid Purified water Notice a similarity to what it contains? Difference is the inhaler hurts your mouth like crazy.

Don't tempt me, I can be a right pious, mean indignant bastard git when someone starts sanctimoniously selling me something I don't want, especially when I suspect it's not about me, it's about their targets/bottom line. Poor health worker wouldn't know what hit them if they started trying to rubbish e-cigs and sell me their crap NRT like I fell off the hay truck yesterday.

My friend has worked in the NHS for 20 years now, the last 5 been head guy in charge of the stop smoking clinic, I could rant on all night what he has said about the political side of things, but wont bore you. He has just opened 2 new vaping shops in our area, need I say any more!

I think you are doing a great job to stop smoking tobacco sammy13, so don't let them get you down. Funny thing is my OH went to see doctor and he told him he had stopped smoking and started vaping. The doctor was quite supportive. However, after the MHRA thing he went to see the nurse and the nurse was disapproving and told him he was still getting nicotine. I'm not sure what she thought was in the gum, patches etc. she preferred people to use.

I have just read all through the 6 pages of this thread as i've been at work all day & this is the first time i've logged in today, i think same as everyone else who has replied its disgusting & despicable how you have been treated today Sammy, what right have they to talk to you like that? do you feel better in yourself for vaping? & are you proud of yourself for what you have achieved, with no help whatsoever from the NHS? are you happy that you are not reliant on stinkies anymore? then thats 3 good reasons to stick with what you are doing, we all do things we shouldn't do & whats bad for our health but us as a responsible adult have to make choices that are best for ourselves & thats exactly what you have done: made an informed choice & feel much healthier for it (& smell better) don't let the ba*tards grind you down, keep on with what you are doing & stay happy *simples* p.s. when my daughter told our GP that she had stopped smoking & was vaping instead he was really pleased & told her to stick with the vaping as he had put on her records that she was a non smoker now!.

Difference is the inhaler hurts your mouth like crazy. She didn't give me the inhaler, she said it is actually an inhalator - she pulled me on my pronunciation of it, she then wrote a request out for it that has to go to my gp, he will then write a prescription and then I have to pay for it at the chemist. I asked all about it, she says 1. It contains a nicotine cartridge, no mention of how much. 2. You can have a maximum of 6 cartridges per day for 2 weeks. 3. she said most people find in that time that they don't feel the need for it any longer. 4. She doesn't know what it tastes like or how you use it, because she has never used one. 5. I asked how you know when to replace the cartridge and she doesn't know that either, she said I suppose you just know somehow.

Oh & i forgot to add, as others have said earlier in the thread there is someone on here more or less 24/7 to support you, what do you get with the NHS? 10 minutes per fortnight, how rubbish is that!

Those inhalator things are rubbish, absolutely shocking.
Don't collect it and sure as hell don't pay for it, simply refuse it. And if she wants a discussion point her to this forum, and i'd be more than glad to give her an eduction, she can even phone me if she want's as well haha.
You have the choice you know, they can't make you use this! bollocks to what they say, if you see her again ask her if she recommends the quickmist thing, they politely inform her, your electronic cigarette contains the same ingredients without the other crap they put in it.
