May be a ridiculous idea but has anyone tried candle wick as an alternative to silica, was looking at www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290657103551 or similar. Cheap as chips too but would like a little feedback/knowledge from anyone who has tried it before i purchase some. Thx

Yep, lots of us have tried it yik3r . . . works fine, but you have to make sure you keep it really, really wet otherwise it will burn. I used that Seller you linked to and their service is excellent if you do decide to try some.

I did try it once, as Perpetua said you have to keep it wet and I did notice that it appeared to swell up a little bit more than slilica did, so had to be a little bit mindful of that when winding the coil, not too tight.

What are you thinking of using it in Yik?
Given how it very easily burns it's best/easiest to try it in a dripper . . . in a tank it has a problem keeping up wicking.

I've been using candlewick for about 4 months in my Vivi Nova and I can really notice the difference in flavour of my liquids. It takes only about 10 minutes now to wind a new coil, which is a good do as I'm having to replace the wicks on a weekly basis as they tend to crust up more quickly than the silica wicks. If you decide to give it a go, I'd suggest fraying the ends all the way up to the coil as it draws the juice up better IMO.

+1 for all the above, also make sure you give the coil a really good soak before putting top cap back on & let the rest of the wick soak as well

I'll probably try it in a dripper first, then maybe try it in a protank. For the sake of 99p its worth a try. Thx for the feedback and advice
