Morning everyone,
Whilst we are still vaping and keeping off the stinkys we’ve had a couple of frustrating vaping days and starting to wonder if we are doing something wrong!!
The main problems still revolve around the evod’s and this is what’s making me think it’s us because everything I read just says how great they are – I can’t believe that we’d be unlucky enough to end up with 4 dud ones!!
My OH is having the most problems – full tank leaked in her handbag yesterday (this was her fault though, some how lost the rubber grommet on top of the wick!!), lots of gurgling and juice getting in the mouthpiece. After the bag leak the spinner decided it wasn’t going to work but luckily I’ve managed to fix that!
Yesterday she was very close to buying fags but she’s got so in to vaping that she didn’t want to just give up.
The main issue I’m having is that the throat hit reduces after 2 or 3 draws unless I crank the spinner right up on the voltage.
I’ve checked all the evod heads, the wicks, seals, rubber gaskets etc etc and everything looks fine to me. I’ve filled them up correctly, I’ve cleaned down the centre tube after filling to ensure no juice in there, tightened the head up and not over tightened on the battery.
The problem is that nearly every day I get a phone call to say her evod is leaking and in some cases spitting out juice down the mouthpiece, things that very rarely happen to the ones I am using.
So, is there a technique that you’re supposed to use when vaping? I watched a youtube clip last night that suggested long gentle draws (it said so you can’t hear yourself sucking through the air holes if that makes sense) so I’ve left her to try that as I noticed she was taking short and hard draws like smoking a stinky.
I’ve started the day doing the same and it has improved the TH issue and I seem to be getting it on each draw now.
And finally, when we started vaping we both vaped about 1 ½ evod worth of juice but yesterday I got through 3!! Is it normal to start vaping more once you get started? I feel like I never put the thing down when I’m at home because it’s so easy to sit in front of the tv and vape away.
I’m working on the basis that 3 evods of juice is still a lot better than 20 roll ups!!
Sorry for the long ramble but we are so determined to make this work and need a bit of guidance from the experts!!

Sharp draws will create pressure, as the EVOD is bottom fed it'll pull more juice through the gap thus causing it to flood, your basically pulling more juice through than the coil can vapourise and that juice needs to go somewhere, normally all over the battery, which could be the cause of the EVOD leak in the bag as well. A buildup of back pressure forced the juice through, slower draws is the key.
I vape a lot more than i smoked, i have noticed i am vaping increasingly more at the moment sometimes 6-10ml's a day if i'm bored, you vape however much you need to keep you off the stinkies and keep you satisfied.

Also if she lost the grommet off the post, did she lose the "flavour" wicks also? That'll cause leaking.

Hold the fire button down for 2 seconds before you start to draw , then release fire button just before you stop ...should help with TH and condensation

If your OH is having problems withe evods you could try the mini Nova from VE (Other venders out there too). I've never had a leek from them so far and are long lasting. I haven't tried the Evod yet as I'm still in love with my novas fuss free and they just work I use about 20ml a week and up to 30ml on a bad week of juice

Bad luck....hang in there.
Lots of things, but I can comment on two.
3 evods of liquid is not so much, maybe in reality only around 2-3ml depending when you fill them up. I would probably use two, and smoked up to 15 rollies.
I don't have much luck with them myself, and I put that solely down to a theory that they don't like lying on their sides in a vaping case or bag. Let me tell you what I find.
A day in the office with an ecig upright in my pocket or standing behind my PC, no trouble at all....perfect.
A day out and about with it in a ruck sack or loose bag....not so good.
18 holes of golf with it bouncing up and down in my bag....total disaster.
- - -
I use mini vivi novas on days out when I know what will happen if I take evods.

How old are the heads you're using? they lat me a week to 10 days before needing replacing/rewicking. Also I find 50% gurgle, this is solved by plcing a 3mm pice of wick on top of the coil, trim and you're good to go take 2 minutes.
You MUST make sure the heads are tightly screwed into the base as they come undone rather easily. But be genlt with the head & coil screwed into the tank section. Check all seals are in place and not damaged.

This could explain why I'm not having as many issues as I keep mine upright all day, even keep it in my top pocket when I am driving. My wife tends to lay hers down on the side of the sofa etc so that may explain a few of the issues.

The heads on her Evods are now only a couple of days old as I changed them both to be on the safe side; the 2 I'm using are about a week old but like I say I'm not having anywhere near the amount of issues that she is. Does the 3mm wick sit on top of the factory sent flavour wick or do you take this out completely and just put the 3mm over the coil?

I find long, slow draws work best. Some devices definitely spit more than others, my favourite at the moment is the vision 3, rebuildable and gives a great vape. The plastic body isn't all that strong, ie, don't sit on it, it'll crack!

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, other than not keeping them upright, I have days where my tanks leak then other days they are fine, though I'm not doing anything different.
I have a number of tanks and i tend to rotate them when they start playing silly buggers, giving them a rest seems to sort them out. <shrug>

Check all seals are in place and not damaged. I'll second that. Evods are a bugger for the head unscrewing/coming loose and allowing juice to leak. Also to remove condensation, hold upside above a rag or tissue for a few seconds then give the inside of the mouthpiece a wipe. Needs to be done everytime it starts to gurgle.
