Lol, I was thinking of giving in & ordering Trog's BOGOF SD's & seeing if anyone wanted to go halves. chrissie, you and lyn share lyns 2 SDs ,the wife hasnt said one way or the other if she wants one (only 3 days left) i think she is waiting for me to say i will buy it (they will be banned by then LOL). if in the next day she decides yes i will get BOGOF. the mk1 batteries are cheap via trog considering you get 4. DOES THE MK1 COME WITH A BUTTON PROTECTOR? does anyone know. i thought i posted this hours ago,i must of typed it out and not posted it.........DIV ragjoy..........

Cheers Raggy. The last time I checked, the MK1 didn't come with a button protector.

i think im going to buy 2 mk1s,but i cant see the point if you can protect the buttons. keef says give the attie a qtr turn,i tried and it still fires up with 901s. even if it didnt the time will come when you bend or snap an attie and potentially damage the thread of the SD. you dont want to have to take of the attie every time it goes in a box or bag etc. also even if there was no attie attached surely it would still flatten and possibly knacker the battery if the button was depressed for any length of time.
just seem stupid to me that it dont have a cover. what do you people use on yours. ragjoy..............

Hi Raggy, not sure if the buttons on both models are the same? if so, a cover for the markII could maybe suffice? email Trog and ask, or post the q on ECF... failing that, what about what Scylla suggested and get a neck larnyard, you could always drop it down inside your top if you don't want it swinging around....other than that, the only thinh i can think of is a case for it, don't know about you but i think i'd find it a pain to put it in & out of a case tho... personally, i'll be going the larnyard route, i've ordered one of these.. www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_1&products_id=101114free delivery

The neck lanyard is quite useful to wrap around the SD to stop it from rolling off the desk. Warn around the neck, it can be cumbersome it's easy to wallop the atty against just about everything. I have the case from Trog (cheaper from TW using a discount code) and it's very useful. Having to slide it out and back in again takes no time at all but does help to stop constant vaping. (A bit like keeping fags out of sight used to be). If you don't use the button cap then simply unscrew the atty a little or remove it and put it in your pocket. Simplez Fox :

thanks ladies, those ideas might work for me but the wifes would be clapped out in no time. some say the mk2 ones fit, some say it dont, and TW or trog dont have none. strange really they both go on about safety, yet no button cover spares from one and none at all from the other. ragjoy..........

Ragjoy you will eventually damage the thread as it is brass so soft. When this happens you can send any SD MK1 back to Trog and they will give them a service that includes replacing the head.
I never twist my atty to stop it firing but a lot of people do ... OK try a 1/2 turn, I just did and it wont fire.
I stick my SD in my bag and Jacket pocket with no problem . Only time it has ever fired off is if it is in the back pocket of my jeans when I sit or squat. The button can catch on the stitching, if you put it in at an angle it is less likely to do that.

Like keef, I just stick mine in my jacket or shirt pocket ("front top pocket" or "inside pocket2") - I've never once had a problem. The SD buttns take a fair press - you can stand an SD on its button and it won't fire... The thing is NOT to put them in a tight pocket or somewhere which has lots of other stuff in it - guess that rules out handbags from what I see of "ladies bags"

thanks prof and keef, well im going for it anyway. i bought the spares pack as well, there dont seem to be a great loss when you consider the breakdown of the price, compared to ordering from dx, and making sure i have the correct 901s. i read some bits on trogs forum the other night that seem to say only buy dse901s i didnt really understand why,but is this correct. the atties i got 2 weeks ago with my SD mk2 seem great. ragjoy................

Raggie, that's odd because at one time Trog was recommending the RN4075 atties as they burned hotter (& therefore gave a better throat hit) than the DSe901's.

At one time the 4075s were better because the DID burn hotter - new 901s are improved and probably now much the same as the 4075s

How do you know which type you have?

If you look into the atty you will see that the DSE901 originals have a 'dot' of a wick in the centre with a clear circle around it. The RN version has a much larger wick (bridge) and hardly any space (circle) around it. That's the only way I can explain it. The Screwdriver MkII kit included two RN atties and DSE901 carts - these carts are smaller than the RN carts and also shorter, therefore they don't wick properly with the RN atties (mine didn't). Totally Wicked sell the 901 SD version only and, therefore, I bought a 901-510 adapter from Trog together with two silver 510 atomizers and much prefer that set up. The 901 carts I have all work with Trog's 510 atties. Fox
