Now I've got over my CE-rebuildable faff and am well-stocked with bauway CE4s, I'm thinking maybe a tank to try? Mrs G-Js vamo is on the way from fasttech and thought a tank may sit better on it than a bauway, and I may have slightly more time to play soon (hopefully). Been looking around a bit, especially on vapingthings and ft, but have some probably silly questions.. 1. are short 35mm or long 50mm tanks better performing? (capacity notwithstanding) 2. I assume th and flavour are going to be completely governed by how good the carto in them is? 3. flanged or straight cartos better? 4. how reliable are the seals in the bases of these? Concerned as sliding cartos in'n'out (Fiddles, stop right there ) must surely lead to leaks? 5. any decent & cheap recommendations peeps?? hanx in advance

An AGR tank is a great starting point and wont break the bank , you will get two plastic parts for the tank 1 is for regular size carto's and the other is for xl carto's, there is also a locking cap that screws onto the end so the carto can't move here is a great review.

thanks fiddles, but don't really want to bother with rebuildables at the moment, hence carto-types is my main thrust for this thread (don't do it )

Flanged pre-punched DC carto's are great, give a really punchy vape, I think anyway GJ and I don't find they move about. But, they are quite pricey compared to ordinary carto's like Boge/Kanger and if you get a leaky one, then they're a pita. Although I do still have phases using them for the different type of vape they give. With any of the carto tanks if you use a Vase/more bulbous DT then that helps prevent any slippage. You'll need a carto punch of some description as well . . . I can't see one on Vaping Things by itself, only in this kit: www.vapingthings.com/DCT_TANK_ESSENTIAL_KIT/p1311952_9068926.aspx

I have two carto tanks. One is very good (AGR) and the other is i.m.o. nothing short of a disaster and unworthy to even be sold. The AGR locks the carto in place, whereas a cheap (and not cheerful) plastic tube is only of marginally more use than a chocolate teapot. Whoever "smok" are, they are numpties of the highest order. A "proper" carto tank should have plenty of grip in the "o" rings to hold a cart in place. Anything less is just silly, cartos sliding in and out with the slightest westerly breeze floating through the living room should not be on the market. Small rant-ette there. Whoops.

The smok tank i linked to above has a flanged carto. I have a few tanks that the carto could slide in, but once the tank is on a battery then using a Ming/Vase type drip tip makes it secure

To be fair if you use the cheapie plastic tanks with flanged DC's then they're ok Djs . . . not brilliant, but serviceable. I've not had one come adrift as yet, although there are considerably better about on the market now, more suited to using ordinary carto's.

Not that particular one. It looks like one I tried and the design was terrible, nothing to lock the carto in place and as the flange is round trying to get it on and off batteries was a mare!
