Well more like murdered... Been outside today all day and we have a glass table. It was quite gusty here today and the wind knocked the vamo over and cracked the outer screen. Not a problem until, I found out that the clear screen had pushed against the LCD and stopped it from displaying although it was still lighting up. Me been a "handy man" I decided I would have a go at removing the top cap and have a tinker inside. Well... I didn't get that far. I managed to loose the rubber grommet for the centre pin and I couldn't get the top cap off. It was so badly scuffed up from using pliers even with a towel rapped round, I decided to go with the "brushed brass look" It looks good, but does not work when I press the fire button, the screen just lights up (my guess is it would be displaying "lo" because of the short thanks to the missing grommet.) Anyone have any ideas what I can do? I only have a set of big pliers not mole grips. For now, it's brush the dust off of the lavatube time

Any nearer and you could have used my Vamo..... but I just wanted to take the opportunity to stress the fact that like with computers, people need to have backups of backups of backups - let this be a salient warning to everyone - always be prepared. Chiller, bite the bullet and order a new device ASAP....I`m sorry your DIY went up the spout

Stealthvape have all the parts you may need ChillerVapes. You ideally want to use a rubber strip and a vice or BIG pipe grips when you pull the cap. I can try to fix what you have without laying out on spares if you would like me to? Will only cost you for a jiffy bag and postage.

Thanks for the replies and offer to repair, that is really kind of you. I think I am going to give it 1 more go today after watching this video Mainly because I want to fully strip the scuffed up chrome and make it all brushed brass. If I still fail, I will be glad to send it to you raid2506

Lol you don't want to see how I did it... lets just say if the video was caveman style... I was ape style. Anyway, found why the screen wasn't displaying... I think the only way is a new one More expenses I shouldn't be spending...

Does anyone know if the lavatube is easier to dissemble? I need to find out why its not firing. I can already unscrew the top cap.

Backups are important - remember the last backup is going to involve burning stuff and none of us want to do that again.
