I have 2 metres of 1mm silica and I've not used it and can't think of a reason I'd need to. Are there any practical uses for it?

Yes! double or triple it up and it works wonders....
Sometimes lots of thin wicks actually work better.
(well, they do for me....)

I use it sometimes with a 2mm on the Odysseus . . . and as Djs has said.

I use 3 strands to rewick my Novas, and it works as well as the original heads, if not better. As @djs says, you could always double it up to rewick a CE4/5 head too! Andy

I also use triple strand 1mm in the single-coil novas. I've taken to using double in the dual-coil in an attempt to make the draw more airy. I think I used double in the evod, but it needed two more laid on top to stop it leaking. I have yet to attempt to rewick my iclear, which is said to be problematic, but the head supplied looks to me like 4x 1mm on each coil, so I guess I'll start with that.
