Hello & welcome Scott & Maria If you don't mind an e-cig being more the size of a cigar than a real cig, then the best thing for you to go for would be a Riva 510. However, if to begin with you want a smaller sized e-cig then a standard 510 should suit you. Do remember though that the smaller the e-cig, the more often the battery will need recharging. Have a look at the pics & video's thread to get an idea about some of the different models & components of an e-cig - allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=newmembers&thread=2349&page=1#54694

Welcome to the All About, Scott. I have to agree with Chrissie, go with the 510 or 510 Riva.

Hello and welcome. Have to agree with Chrissie. I started with the standard 510 and i'm now looking at upgrading to the Riva. Kind of wish i'd listened to Chrissie and got that one in the first place lol.

Hi Scotty and welcome to our forum I sincerely agree that you go with Chrissie's Riva recommendation - if the size puts you off, just believe that if you went with a "ciggie-like" one you'd soon be upgrading for the sake of longer battery life and a stronger vape. Nearly everyone here has never looked back since they swapped their tobacco addiction for e-cigs, it's just a matter of taking that leap of faith - all you have to lose is a few ££ and think how quickly you go thru those anyway! scylla

Hi Scot, welcome aboard. I would highly recommend the Riva kit too, it was my first proper ecig and I'm still using it from time to time now

Scylla is right, I started with a cig look a like, upgraded to a standard 510 and i'm now looking at getting a Riva. Wish i'd just started with that now!

Hi Scott and Maria,
Good for you for deciding to ditch the fags, believe me, it will be a decision you won't regret.
My wife Chris and I both packed up nearly 3 months ago, after decades of smoking, mountains of nicotine patches, the foulest tasting gum i've ever tasted, those plastic nicotine inhalers, prescribed drugs, nothing worked for very long, then we discovered ecigs. Here we are completely fag free almost 3 months later...next to having our kids, it's the best decision we've ever made.
Most people start with some kind of ecig starter pack (some of them have two complete ecigs as part of the set, one for each you), and then move on to something they can customise a bit..these sorts of ecig are often called 'PV's (Personal Vapers) or 'Mods' (modified)
In the kit you should get removable/chargeable batteries and charger, and all you need to start 'vaping' right away.
I'm not really experienced enough to recommend one brand over another..although Riva is supposed to be a good one to start with.
Good luck with giving the tobacco the boot, and welcome to the amazing world of egics and vaping.

I'm fairly sure that I didn't want to give up smoking....I just didn't want to smoke cigarettes any more. I made the switch to vaping 18 months ago and, for me, it's been a pleasant and easy transition. My most reliable e-cig has been the Tornado/Riva. I have various other bits and pieces but the Tornedo batteries have never let me down. Good luck to you both.
