Well where to start.........after a great 4-6mths of business me,mrs river and little river decided it was time to move house (well mrs river did) we put our house up for sale on the 14th dec last year.........we sold it on the 20th........all very exciting come the end of january the couple who had bought ours still hadnt got a mortgage in place.......we had by this time spent around £1700 on fees etc,the house we were buying the guy was selling as it was his uncles house and he had to go in a home and the sale was to pay for his care and the money was running out,Explained this to our estate agents who said they would hurry them up..............17th feb the couple finally got their mortgage sorted and we were ready to sign the following week at 4pm Had a phone call to say that the couple who were buying our house their buyer had pulled out...............so now we had to wait for them to sell again....... we are now in march..........then phone call from estate agents to tell us our buyers were not buying as the woman might be loosing her job and would struggle with mortgage.... So our house back up for sale and agreed with estate agents that only people who are not in a chain could view........3 days later a couple viewed.....next day they agreed to buy and that the they would sign by the end of the week......yipee........no phone calls by end of week so we chased estate agents who informed us that they were struggling to get a mortgage(even though we stated people in no chain).......by this time our seller was getting impatient as one would agree....anyway......3weeks went by and we had heard nothing........its now may..........then we had a call to say that the house we wanted had been sold to a cash buyer..........that was it.......the wife in bits She is now feeling alot better and have decided to extend rather than sell......just cant believe this can happen.....including all fees etc we have lost around £2400
So now im back........Let the fun begin

We had the same river, were buying from a friend who was buying their parents house, 3 days before we moved , their mortgage was pulled, that was the week before Christmas 2012, we looked for something else, found it and then found our buyer had bought somewhere without telling us they were pulling out, it was a nightmare
Then the bank admitted they had made a mistake pulling their mortgage , there was nothing wrong with it
Fees and trauma everywhere cos some wally in the bank misread a piece of paper
We didn't move either
I know exactly how you all felt x x x

I'll bet you have both been spitting bullets! A ridiculous, needless loss of money caused by circumstance & idiots, but I hope that it now all works out well for you all & welcome back.

We had a horrible experience with a seller who kept delaying going to a solicitor for 8 months and it was a cash buy. We were moving from the city to the countryside taking mum & dad with us, to make it work we wanted them to have there own annix. We found the perfect place and put in an offer which was accepted. Everytime the estate agent got in touch he constantly came up with excuses. The last excuse was that he was waiting for his children to go back to University after the summer break. Well we were getting really angry now as dad was becoming ill and needed an operation, we were hoping to be moved and settled well before the treatment. We were on our way home from seeing the seller who assured us he was seeing the solicitor the folllowing day. Driving down the country lanes we passed a beautiful cottage just having the sign put outside, we stopped outside to take the estate agents number as it was viewing by appointment only. We rang them up there and then, they said we could view the following day. We viewed the next day fell in love and made an offer. We went straight to the estate agent that was dealing with the other house and told him that the other seller had until 12pm the following day to get it all sorted otherwise we were pulling out he thought we were bluffing until we shown him the property in question. At 11.30 the agent still had no word so we sat in the cafe next door while he contacted him again, we went back in at 12 only to be told the chap was in a meeting and couldn't come to the phone. It took another three years before he sold it, I wonder why. The cottage we are still in was vacant possession all newly decorated and the son was a solicitor, we moved in two weeks after viewing. Moving house is a nightmare and I am not looking forward to our final move which will be to something much smaller and a bungalow.
