I react badly to Midge bites, but that is down to the Histamine in my blood and so, as soon as I get bitten, a couple of Piriton pills soon sorts them out. I got bitten yesterday for the first time this year. I was destroying their homes. Mowed the lawn!!! George Hendry's book, "Midges in Scotland" is an excellent read for anyone who suffers from the dreaded Midge. It won't stop you getting bitten but it will help you to avoid the worst areas and times of day. It will also show you which type are best avoided, although you will need a microscope to tell you which type is which! Well I'm on antihistamines for skin itching problems and have been all my life. I have 25mg Atarax (Hydroxyzinehydrochloride) a day. still itch and get bitten. I've seen extracts from that book but i have not a copy my self, it's good isn't it. I think there is another book on the scottish midge as well, could be wrong. And as for the type, well i remember one thing all my life, Apparently it is only females that bite. go figure. Ruff

Actually Avon Skin So Soft only works because it contains a small amount of a compound that wards off insects as well as promoting soft skin. Personally I prefer to use anti-midge repellents that I buy in the area where I am holidaying in. If it is good enough for the locals then it is good enough for me.

We got our Midge Nets today.
Not sure if it will stop the buggers biting us or whether they will be laughing so much they will forget to bite us!
