I don't pretend to be expert Lal . . . but stacked batteries can have a greater likelihood of going thermal, you also have to be careful when charging that you make sure that's done in parallel.

There will be someone considerably more informed than me who'll give you a better/fuller answer.

But you do have to be careful, that I do know.

Stacked batteries should always be permanently paired from the time of purchase for both using and charging. Mark them as pairs and never use them singly. Alternate the upper and lower positions of your stacked batteries with each use. Periodically check the voltage of your batteries to make sure they are the same. If one of the batteries starts taking markedly longer in the charger to charge fully quit using that battery and only use the remaining battery as a single.
