Please everyone, as I've explained, Proboards, the host of this forum, is only free if the banner ads show & therefore it is against Proboards TOS to use an ad blocker as they have to have a way to be able to host the forum for free.

The other alternative is what I've been doing - i.e. paying to be ad free for signed in members. In the past, the cost hasn't been too much @ $8 for 50,000 page views. However, we are now getting through 100,000 page views in only 5 days!

At the moment, I've not paid for yet another lot of ad free till I can find out why our page views have gone through the roof.

Chrissie, you have over 4,000 members, if each member took a look at 5 pages per day that's 20,000 views, and if you multiply that fiqure over 5 days that comes out at 100,000.

Now I know all 4,000 members don't log in every day, but those members that do log in look at a lot more than 5 pages per visit, probably many times a day, so the fiqures don't seem that far out, on average to me.

You have just become a victim of success, a very helpful and interesting site to visit, plus the added community factor , and more and more people will come as they discover this site, as more and more people want to quit cigarettes.

I don't mind the adds, and to be honest never took much notice of them, until I read this thread. Just accepted them as par for the course and still do, ad's are on most if not all Internet site's I visit.

I often (a couple of times a day) take a look on the this Forum without logging in, and view a lot more than five pages a visit when I do log in.

I did not realize you were paying for the privilege of members being ad free, so to speak, very kind of you but I don't think you should keep that up due to the success of this forum, or you will end up broke.

Many members have offered to contribute as seen by the above responses, but it seems like the main problems are by members using their mobile phones, to visit the forum and the ad's basically filling their screens, and the alternative you suggested for them to use the Proboards + feature, unfortunately seems like the only sensible alternative.

Thank you to those who have kindly offered to donate, but as I've had it confirmed by Proboards support that we are averaging between 50,000 & 100,000 page views per day including guests. And 25,000 page views per day by members. Therefore to continue at just our current rate, I'd have to set up a monthly subscription & pay $173 per month & that amount will have to keep being increased as the forum continues to grow. I'm afraid there is no way I can afford to be paying that sort of money out in advance on a monthly basis

Proboards support have also said that they will only be running their in house ads on the forum due to it's content.

173 dollars a month wow, rather put it to buying vaping gear. I'm getting use to the ads now so its not a big thing but I'm in shock at the fees that proboards charge you Chrissie.
Chrissie needs another save banner to say I have saved 173 dollars this month on proboards charges.
I would hate to think how much you have paid for our pleasure over the years.

why not just host it on its own domain and own hosting?
