Replaced the head on my mini protank this morning, worked for a couple of vapes then nothing. Can the coils blow on these things? Using an ego twist at about 4, 1.8ohm head??

Yes - the coils can pop (did on my evod, & I think they're the same), but not that quickly I shouldn't have thought.

lal - a couple of questions - first, were they head bought in this country or from a Chinese supplier like FastTech? Also, was it brand new (i.e. factory wound), or did you wind it yourself? There have been some reports of the FT heads not being totally reliable, and yes, sometimes atty heads do pop after a few puffs, this can be down to a short in the head. Either way, I would suggest that this is the perfect time to get to grips with the art of recoiling those heads yourself - they are amongst the easiest to do, and for the outlay of a couple of replacement heads you could set yourself up with enough wick and wire to keep you going for a couple of months!! If you need links, and helpful videos, please ask!!

The way the positive and negative tails of the coils are isolated from each other it doesnt suprise me they short easily. Had the same with a few of my vivi nova heads.
Lal, if you got a multi meter u can use that.

That's maybe a little high voltage for a brand new 1.8ohm coil Lal . . . try starting lower until it starts to peak off and see what happens.

Others have beaten me to it lal, but the Evod head is almost identical to the Protank one with the exception of the long ribbed shaft (oo-er!) which centres the head in the internal tube. Maybe start your voltage a bit lower with a new head to allow it to bed in and build up the volts gradually over a tank or two. This way it will probably last a bit longer. I get all my wire and wick from HERE - the starter bundle for £10 is a great way to get started and should sort out a fair few heads. It can be found HERE
