Hey I think this is the best starter kit out there at the minute myepack.co.uk/kits/evod-starter-kit.html but it is horses for courses. Before you buy him anything let him see pictures, if he doesn't like how something looks, he is less likely to use it. After that ask here if whatever he has pointed out actually works well and/or is suitable for a beginner. I would suggest getting some 18mg and 24mg liquids for him to try. Warn him that tobacco liquids rarely taste like cigs (because if they did no one who has been off the cigs for more than a week would want to vape them ) Get him something interesting to try. My hubby loves his coffee vape, but that one is a bit like marmite in the vaping world (love it or hate it) Be warned .. I basically took over hubbys vaping journey, and in the end realised I had to back off and let him do it his way. I have helped him a lot, but at the end of the day you can't guess what he will get on with best, he has to work it out for himself. I still get days when I want to scream, because I know how to fix whatever problem he is having, but that means messing with his gear, which is a NO. NO. ..... He confesses I understand it all a lot better than he does, he just doesn't want to listen I even buy him premixed juice, even though I mix all my own, because otherwise we were going to fall out. He just wants it to work, and endless tasting sessions just weren't cutting it for him Okkies, rant over Hope he gets something fabulous

Hi and welcome to the forum. Big question you are asking and one that has many answers. My own opinion is as follows, just my opinion. Start with something simple, but reasonable quality and price. Something like the Evod Kit from Vape Escape www.vapeescape.co.uk/Deluxe-Vaping-Kits/EVOD-650/EVOD-650-Kit.html Not the cheapest, but a decent quality, easy to fill, easy to clean and easy to change the heads when needed. Includes 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, 5 spare heads, charger and instructions. Try a good selection of flavours. This is really important. Most kits come with a tobacco flavour and many people dont get on with them. try a couple of fruit, a couple of "sweets" like vanilla etc., and a couple of tobacco. Somewhere out there there is a flavour he will like. Good luck, and don't forget the forum is here to help beginners more than anybody.

I smoked about 25 rollies per day for 30 years too, so I am living proof that he can do it lol.
IMHO there's a few things that'll make you GENUINELY WANT to vape rather than smoke - good flavour, good vapour, and decent kit.
Flavour is obviously individual. I preferred a vape as close in flavour to my tobacco to begin with. Others want to be as far from tobacco as possible. I recommend getting a few flavours, maybe one from each category - like a tobacco one, a fruit one, a sweet one, a mint one etc (BTW I hated menthol cigs but love menthol vape).
Good vapour and decent kit sort of go together. Get a Variable Voltage (VV) battery. These allow you to adjust the power to the head (burner bit), thus allowing you to set the vape how you, personally, like it. Have a look at Vision Spinner batteries. These are about the size of a writing pen, maybe a little thicker but shorter. They come in various sizes. You'll see them with different mAh capacities, and as a rough guide you get one hour of vaping from each 100mAh of battery, so an 1100mAh should last all day.
Then you need the actual burner bit (attachment, atty). A good starter is Kanger Evods. They're cheap to buy, easy to refill and clean, cheap and easy to buy new heads (the actual burner bit, instead of buying a whole new thing), and you can rebuild them yourself cheaply and easily if you're good with your hands. You'll need a new head every few days/few weeks depending on use and thickness of juice etc. These are bottom coil so they're quite a cool vape. If you prefer a warmer vape (some say a bit more like a ciggy) then try a Mini Vivi Nova.
So, a pair of Spinners, a pair of evods, a usb charger, a uk plug adapter (or use your phone one), and a few juices...and you're good to go. If you go for evods get a pack of spare heads, but make sure they're the 1.8 ohm resistance obes - they vape twice as good as the stock ones they come fitted with.
Post back if you want more info on any of that lot, there's loads more I could go into, but I don't wanna bog you down too much.
edit...nicotine level is critical too. Most former smokers find 18mg about right. Maybe get one 24mg liquid just for a "kick" if needed.

Where about are you located? There are more and more places you can buy face to face these days. Much better than on line - you can see and possibly even try a few things - best of all you can get someone to talk you through the basics - so much better than by remote control.
