I have quite a few hobbies Crochet being my favourite right now but I do cross stitch, knitting, card making, cooking and I play a game called runescape I find all of the above very relaxing and has helped me through some difficult times. Some of the hobbies listed on the thread are utterly amazing it's nice to see what else we all do:)

Havn't been fishing since March but I still have the bug...I keep saying that I'm gonna go for a quick session but never seem to get around to it... 4 kids and another imminent - that's enough 'quick sessions' for you young man!

Got mine on machine mart after looking at it and deciding for months lol Thats the male of the species for you Mev We will go out and spend 3 k on tools to make a table for £75 that would cost £175 if shop bought....then feel proud of the money we saved making the table ourselves It's the same feel good factor we get when we vape our diy mixes in the RDAs that we recoil ourselves - total smugness! Tease-smiley

Blimey, quite a collection thusfar. Right, here we go - I drop in and out of doing :- Roleplaying, Wargaming, PC Gaming, Writing (blogging these days really), Hill walking, Hunting (Rifle, Bow & Crossbow), Target shooting (as before), Fishing, Wood Carving, Charcoal drawing (some pen & Ink also), filigree, metalwork, DIY, PC repair ( and general tinkering), Photography, Mountain Biking, Canoeing (freshwater and sea but not whitewater), Climbing, Cookery, Candle making, Software engineering (very rusty now though). . .
That's what I can remember, being an almost lifelong insomniac I've had plenty of time to fill and have probably forgotten some from over the years. Lots of outdoorsy stuff since I grew up in the Highlands where there is far more outdoors than urban. My basic rules are it must be reasonably cheap since I've never really worked outside minimum wage type jobs. The rifle/pistol shooting and hunting mainly being air weapons but was accurate out to 60 yards with a standard 12ft lb equipment (but did use CO2 powered gear rather than old spring stuff).
At the moment I only really do some online gaming (mainly WoT, same username for those also interested) and DIY stuff (because I live in an old flat and the landlord gives me money off rent for any repairs I get done).

I appreciate you ve delved deeper than a hollywood film but i have to say Daniel Day Louise was amazing in "Lincoln".
Oooh, thanks for the reminder - have just popped over to Amazon and ordered it! Only £7 too. The Civil War is fascinating to study as the soldiers were mostly literate and there was no censorship, so there's vast amounts of letters and diaries full of information about the ordinary men, rather than just stuff about the generals. Antietam was the bloodiest single day in American history and there's an atmosphere about even now. I really think you wont be disappointed . Hope you enjoy watching

Each game ended in a boring standoff leading to a draw. Maybe I saw games that weren't particularly good. Then again, a lot of games I find completely dull are massively popular with esports audiences (LoL, for example).

I do enjoy the game though as I've always enjoyed that sort of thing. Tried the planes too but can't really get on with it yet, can't wait for the ships though. Also the other day I was in a random game with a pro player and he just slaughtered casual players and got 9 kills very fast. Luckily he was on my team (I got one kill), the game only lasted about 4 minutes.

I suspect it's one of those games that is way more fun when recreational players are messing around with it, rather than pro teams who scout perfectly, maintain formations, make no mistakes, and end up forcing stalemates. When you say "that sort of thing", do you mean military simulation, or RTS generally?

I've played both and have enjoyed both. Like flight simulators as well. Comes from all the wargaming I've done I suppose. I find most RTS can end up pretty tedious though unless you are playing a live opponent as otherwise RTS just comes down to learning the trick for the game and just grinding to win. Alas I don't really excel at any of it since I'm just not very competitive, probably too casual. I'm only, at best, average at WoT for instance and can't be bothered getting all technical to improve greatly. I am worst at scouting aspects but competently accurate at shooting with tanks, tank destroyers and artillery on it with my hit ratio slowly climbing now I've got the hang of it.

....... I believe that my band had videos at number 30 and 31. I say "believe", as I never actually saw the TV show. It was our singer who submitted the vids and told us where we'd ended up in the final chart. The website doesn't exist any more, so the only evidence I have that this ever actually happened is a post from our facebook page: Brilliant.. another guitar play that understands the pull of the passion that is music.. Yeah Be the source, it could have been so good for all of us on there. I didnt get chance to play at FAC51 got offered to play. went to afew live shows that got filmed.. meet lucy and Ben .shame they didnt do the second series as I had another 3 videos that had made it through to the TV show. D-Bo is still rapping, and doing very well, he'll be one to watch out for. plus I know that hankypark singer James davenport will be apperaing on X-Factor when it starts.. he got through some stages then stopped updateing how far he got... it was all good fun and another thing we can say we have done..

I have to admit, I don't know any of the names you mention. I really had very little involvement with the whole thing. Basically, our singer said "I've submitted some videos to this website where you can end up on telly", and I didn't really look any further into it! He also sent some stuff to Radio Lancashire, and they played one of our tracks: soundcloud.com/cynical-laughter/cynical-laughter-auntie-jeanesI think they were keen to hear more tracks, as long as we could provide radio-edited versions to get rid of the swearing (not that we have overly offensive lyrics - but it probably averages out at 1 or 2 f-bombs per song. The above song was the only one they were happy to play on radio because it's an instrumental!)

A few years ago I could have listed a few, and a few years before that a few more - does anyone find this similar?? Life, age and illness gets in the way - god damn things . I was, and still am in mind an adrenaline junkie, bungee jumping ( broke the world record with the uk club), abseiling, did the krypton factor assault course, para gliding, caving, rock climbing etc. But then illnesses get in the way so what do you do - The one thing hat no-one can take away from me unless I go deaf is my music. It's not a job, it's not a hobby it is my life. My neighbours hate me but music is my hobby, and there is only one way to play it - LOUD,
