Hi all, I'm after trying my first mod; if possible I'd like to keep the total cost to around £50; if I've got to buy batteries 'n' stuff; but cheaper is fine. I'd like one that's robust, and that would be okay to stick in the back pocked of a pair of jeans; but robust is my main wish. I'm not too bothered about looks - but shiny is nice! Has anyone any recommendations? I've got my eye on this one: Little Gem www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=82But I'm sure there's more.

Hi Tosh
I got a Screwdriver MK 2 as my first real Mod and bought it second-hand and it is great! I have now bought a VAriable Voltage (VV) Dual 18650 Mod from Rob "Throathit" over at UK Vapers Forum and it is absolutely superb.
A well connstructed piece of kit if ever there was one and a full charge lasts me 2+ days of fairly heavy/constant vaping - even at the higher voltages!
Now it is £80.00 BUT I can tell you that it is money well spent in my humble and relatively novice opinion!!!
Later...

Search the classifieds for an icon, don or ggtb. Makos are good too.

Excellent stuff Tosh, just be careful with the SD that the bottom activation button doesn't unscrew by itself - it's the only thing I can say to watch, as other than that it's an excellent device.

Got to agree with what others have said the SD in mark 1 or 2 form is an excellent first real mod, another I will bring into the fray though is this mod ukvapers.com/topic/6794-attention-newbies/page__pid__105707#entry105707Very very good value for money and both Ian and myself will vouch on how good this mod is for the money and is very much like the SD

Well done Tosh, you'll love it As Perpy as already said, the bottom switch does tend to unscrew, so just make sure you give it a couple of twists every time you use it. Mine dropped off in the car once LOL. Don't be tempted to overtighten it as it will just compress the spring and the unit wont work at all. Also if you find it's not connecting after a bit of use, unscrew the bottom switch and give the spring a tease out, it may be that it's compressed and not connecting.

I use a tiny ball of blutac smudged on the thread of the switch as that way if I need to take it off I can some others use glue or thread lock but I wouldn't recommend that.

TW has a 30% discount on everything for the whole of July - a good time to stock up with all things SDII. I've just got myself the spares kit - good value. Fox

I tighten up my button assembly each time I change the battery. When it goes it zooms off for quite a distance - fortunately I've been able to find the spring on each of the two occcasions it's happened to me. Other than that, the SDII is a very reliable device. If you can do that Dee, you must be superwoman. I'm very heavy handed and have never managed to force the screw through the button to compress the spring because that's what you'd have to do for it to happen.

I did it by using a screwdriver to hold the thread while I tightened it LOL. Not a good idea
