Roscopecotrain Thanks for the detailed post, that does make things clearer, i kind of had it imagined in my head but couldn't find a decent guide anywhere online what explained it.

How long do the clearomisers & batteries last before they need replacing if well looked after?

Say a kit comes with 2 650mAh batteries is it possible to then buy a 900/1100mAh battery for the same clearomiser? as in do all batteries fit the same?

i will definitely be ordering a kit tonight/tomorrow so hopefully it will come some time next week after the bank hol

Batteries can last a very long time so long as they are looked after. Until my missus lost it this week she was using my 'old faithful' a 900mah ego battery that I have had for over a year, and it's seen some heavy use. Other batteries have packed up after a few months so it does tend to vary. As for clearomizers, semi rebuildables (ones you can change the premade atomiser head on) generally last until you break it through either dropping ti or general wear and tear and you just replace the heads as and when you need to depending on whether you are going for a flavour change or it's just starting to taste bad when you refill it. This is all in basic terms as I don't want to bombard you with information about fully rebuildable atty's and recoiling/rewicking your own =p

Most batteries are both 510 threaded and ego threaded. This fits nearly all clearos, tanks, cartos etc so no worries there. That then means any further batteries you buy will fit the clearos etc.

Batteries will last a fair old while. We still have and use our first ego batteries we bought in december last year. Clean the contacts once a week and your all good.

Clearos are different. Some last ages some dont. Some leak some dont. It is the problem you get with mass production im afraid. Some slip through the net.

Just to say, I have some clearomisers that are a year old. They have probably seen dozens of replacement atomizer heads, either bought or rebuilt.
Some have had replacement bases and/or tubes, so not all are strictly that old.

The problem, I feel, for beginners is probably getting through clearomisers very fast. They all use the same method for wicking the liquid to the wire (coil) that vapourises the liquid, but some are more effective than others. For example, the CE4 clearomisers that seem to come with kits (especially cheap and market stalls etc.) don't last very long at all for me. I never use them. I met a chap filling one up at a market the other day, and he says he throws them out after 4 or 5 refills... t.b.h. I only ever buy rebuildable ones.
