Decided not to get Married abroad as it is too much faffing around so the 12-Oct-2013 is the Big day Ain't going for nothing fancy, just a Register Office at the local town hall (Cheapskate ) So far today paid for: The Town Hall fees 2 x Limousines Cameraman The Rings ( I wanted the Lord of the Rings one but my OH was not having it ) And we have a whopping amount of guests, wait for it....................... Nine ................. List is: Me and the OH (no brainer) My Mum and Dad (When we told them we are getting Married i heard my Dad in the background say "Waste of money") My eldest son and his GF (His GF said you sure you want me to come, i replied "You ain't got no choice, your the witness so like it or lump it you are going") My second eldest (His reply to it all was "I ain't going, look how old you are, left it a bit late ain't ya") My third eldest (His reply, do they have a Xbox in the Limousine) The Baby (His reply was "Blum Blum" ) We also phoned my OH's parents who live in Spain but her mother cannot come due to still being bed ridden from a car accident but her Father shouted "Wedding, sod that, that means i have to leave the house" His a weird one, he still thinks he will be abducted again by aliens so he never leaves his house And who says "Romance is Dead" I gotta feeling this is gonna be the quickest divorce in history

Funny thing was my OH trying to push me into wearing a suit...my reply was "Not going to happen, at most i will wear shoes with dark jeans and a shirt, like it or lump it, never worn a suite and i don't intend too start now" I know it sounds like a Wedding from Hell but i just cannot stop laughing

It really gets to me when they say the 'average' wedding these days is in the tens of thousands ??? Where do these people live, it's all about commitment, nothing whatsoever about how much it all cost, and our's was better than yours. I wish you so much health and happiness Rom and your OH. ( Just hope she arranges her underwear in an orderly fashion)

Thanks Raffles i prefer cheap wedding and spend loads on the drinky poos after and having a good laugh. I really do hope there is no confetti, all that mess is just pointless

Rom. Your post made me laugh, but I feel kinda sad that none of them were pleased for you.

Congrats from me - I'm all in favour of small weddings - at mine there were 5 guests, and then we went for breakfast at a café over the road, complete with beans and black pudding Best wedding I've ever had Seriously - do what you want to do, what makes you and the future missus happy - bet you have a great day! Jo x

Me and hubby got married in the registry office on jersey with 9 friends and family there. Afterwards we all walked through the town centre, until we found a pub with tables and chairs outside. They made us sandwiches and we had a few drinkypoos (before my new hubby left me to go to the fishing tackle shop!) It was a brilliant day. When we came out of the registry office, the square was packed with school kids, and all the girls were staring at me in my dress. Got quite a few stares as we were walking up the high street too! We also went to the beach after and my sil took some photos. I wouldn't have traded that day for one that cost thousands of pounds. It was so much more than what money could buy and I have so many wonderful memories, much more intimate and certainly less stressful. (We did do it all again in England a few months later for the family who couldn't be there) A the end of the day it's your day. We didn't spend a lot, my dress was £79 from china, i got my hubby a designer suit through work for €50, I did the flowers myself and everyone took photos which I nicked afterwards. I even got a free car to take me there! Congratulations Super-Shiny
