Hello to you all, thank you for having me. I have just started to research electronic cigs, I will admit I know very little but am learning Right where to begin, I am 40 years old been smoking since I was 13 years old, as the years roll by the amount I smoke goes higher, started on real cigs, been smoking rollies for the last 10 years, some days smoking at least 20 - 30 a day. Been thinking about stopping for the longest time but patches, inhalers and gum have not worked. What has given me the push now is that a very close family friend has had a heart attack at only 43 years old, he was a heavy smoker. He says he will never touch another cig again!! Although this only happened a few days ago it has scared me enough to make me want to cut down on the amount I smoke and eventually stop all together. What I would like a little help on is firstly where to go online for the best deal on a starter kit, good value but most of all tried and tested etc...then some help on what juice I would need, I will need one with nicotine to start with. There are so many places online to purchase, looks like many scams, or some selling utter rubbish. I want to start the way I mean to go on.

hi debbie ..and welcome to aaec 1st of all there is as you say many a many of on-line suppliers ..most of whom are on aaec are very good vendors which offer discount codes for the members here as e-cigs are becoming more and more popular shops are sprouting up all over the place ,,and i would suggest finding a local shop/market stall and go along and try them out ,,,many will let you test the many different type of juices to find a couple that suit you ,,it may be worth letting people know were youre from ,,as they may be able to help with reccomending such a retailer for you the type of kit sorta depends on what you want to spend ,,,some start with ego`s and and ce4 type kit this is obv the cheaper option and most people move on from these,,incurring additional costs if you dont mind spending a little more money then perhaps the next stage would suit you that being a spinner or a twist with a nova r alike recently new material like the protank as come out ,,thats what i use at the moment leak free easy to use and refill ..you cant go wrong really i too am around your age and also started smoking at a young age ,,from the very 1st day i got my e-cig i havnt had one puff of a fag ,,,so whilst some people tend to cut down on there cigs others like me cut out completely
e-gig liquid is the hardest part to advise on as everyone as different tastes ,,i would say with the amout you smoke you will need at least 18mg liquid,, i started on 24mg and have stayed at that level for the 11 months i have now been smoke free :-D
like i mentioned earlier finding a shop/market and trying the flavors will save you lots of time and money in sampling flavors bought off-line that you may are may not like
do a few hours research around the forum before jumping in with both feet ,,im sure you will get plenty of replies to here there and here again ,,but my advice would be to get a spinner and a protank set up ..and if no shop available then a sample pack with say 8 or 10 different flavors to try out and hopefully 1 r 2 of em will be to your taste
hope this helps a little and GOOD LUCK xx

A warm welcome to you Debbie. I've nothing further to add to Freefrom's excellent advice . . . but if a ' committed ' smoker such as myself can do it, so can you. When I switched to vaping I was smoking 40/50 cigs a day and had been a smoker for 36 years, never did I think ( nor did my family or friends ) that I'd not be a slave to tobacco. You're taking to this lovely habit of ours at a time when the equipment we have available is the best it's ever been, making the switch considerably less stressful. Good luck and any questions then don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Debbie and welcome
I was a 30 a day guy and had been smoking for 18 years when I made the switch.
If I was to add anything to the above it would be to not go for a cheap starter kit, I would get something that has variable Voltage so you can control your vaping the way you like it. I started with a 900mah battery and some CE4 clearos and quickly found out that I needed to upgrade.
So if I did it again I would get a spinner or a twist with a bottom coil clearomiser for ease of filling, cleaning, and rebuilding (heads are available to buy if you don't want to rebuild them initially)

Hello & welcome Debbie The kit & e-liquids that @freefromsmoking has linked to are excallent value you for money & would be ideal to get you up & running As ginge7289 says, a variable voltage like the Spinner, does give you better control, but you could always just buy a Spinner battery at a later date as it will be compatible with the Evod kit

Debbie13, to "The Friendly Forum". Don't think Chrissie has got this in the Welcome PM yet (so sorry if you've already read it) But the first place to start is Giles' Excellent Beginners Guide Once you've read this, you'll have a lot of the information you need And will also be better prepared to understand the jargon you'll get in some of the replies. You're certainly in the right place to kick the stinkies. (& it's really easy:D)
ETA: Just noticed @freefromsmoking already linked giles' guide, but there's 2 pointers to it

Hello and Debbie13! My top tip is to forget about how you used to smoke a cigarette! Learn to inhale gently and slowly - don't try to 'Hoover' the vapour into your lungs as quickly as possible. Vapour tastes better when you savour it, and exhaling through your nose can also help to get the full flavour. Don't be afraid to experiment too - try lots of different juices. Most of us start out with tobacco-flavoured juices, but soon progress to other, more delicious flavours like fruits and sweets There's so much kit now that you're spoilt for choice, but the friendly members here will always help you out with the best devices and keenest buys Enjoy the journey! I'm sure you won't look back and regret it! There's a whole new world out there....

Hi Debbie. If it's nicotine you are after, you've come to the right place. Just avoid the plastic vanity sticks and you're good to go. - - - Interesting fact of the day from the resident number cruncher.... If you smoke 20 B&H a day, you'll spend £2,900 a year on tobacco. If you vape on a supermarket plastic stick, and want to match the nicotine yield of those 20 cigs, you'll spend £2,180 a year on refills. If you vape on an eGo battery and fill your own stuff, you'll spend about £600..which leaves you plenty for the possible shiny illness that can catch the unwary.

Hi there and welcome Debbie. Theres alot of info on here available from a really great bunch and i'm sure you'll get all the help you could possibly need. I'd like to add well done on your decision to cut down on the stinkies, you never know you might find yourself cutting them out completely. I started vaping initially with the intention of cutting down but after my first use of a ego type battery and cheap clearo I've not touched a stinky since. I've spent money on upgrading a little and very happy with my decision.

Thank you for such a warm welcome and all of the advice, I am slowly making my way through it all and reading as much as I can. I am much closer to understanding what I need to buy etc, really dont want to waste money on something to then find I need to buy a different set all together. Still not too sure which to purchase, although I know which juices I want to try lol...so thats a start I suppose. I have been on and off the forum reading throughout the day but my friends 8 year old son is staying here....closer to school etc while he is still in hospital, its hard to concentrate on what I need to on here... I am actually pretty excited about trying this with the hope that the stinkies get knocked on the head some time soon. More reading I think before I decide where and what to buy....once again thank you to all of you
