Perhaps Dr. Griffiths should pop her head over the parapet on this forum, and see what we have to say about the efficacy of e-cigs!!!! Why don't these supposedly learned doctors read a bit more before they spout such utter drivel!? It's a knee-jerk reaction I suppose, fuelled by the Governmental blurb which we all know is wrong anyway! AAAARGH!!!!!!!!!

What utter drivel . . . and of course the best time to stop smoking is when you're under stress in hospital. Nicotine patches will fill the gap - not! These Doctor's don't live in the real world of most people with a nicotine addiction.

Pathetic. I can throw a ball into Wales - it used to be a haven of semi-liberalism.
Let's face it....the entire non-smoking world wants everybody else to stop smoking. They don't care how we do it, as long as we don't use e-cigs, because e-cigs are not quitting nicotine, therefore we are cheating.
It's not so long ago that doctors smoked as much as any other group. Simply banning cigarettes (first inside, and now in outside areas too) is not going to stop people smoking; it's just going to make people far less good at their jobs if they are addicted to nicotine and spend the day climbing up walls and getting short and grumpy with their colleagues.
e-cigs are a perfect solution...

They have already banned the use of ecigs inside the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield. I gave my mother in law a 650mah set up just before she went down for an op and when I got there she was having a fag outside. Even I had to vape outside with the smokers

In nhs Tayside you're not even allowed to vape outside on nhs premises. The scottish gov tobacco control strategy states that local authorities have to introduce no smoking policies including grounds by 2015, and the way things are going they will include vaping in the no smoking policy . It's shit

Without being willing to push myself into the vaping bashing area. Vaping should not be allowed in hospitals. It should not. When it is revealed that vaping causes absolutely no problem at all to anyone around, then it should be fine. But it's not and hasn't been.
No matter how much better that vaping is better than smoking, it still has some stuff that comes out of it. Non users should not be open to it. Full stop.
And when they they are in hospital, even more.
My take on it.

I thought we were talking about not being able to vape outside in the grounds? (Staff) or have I misunderstood. ???

this report was in south Wales. Up here in Wrexham Mrs G-J was allowed to vape on the wards while she was in recently and even had a quick e-liquid tasting session with one of the nurses , and the number of vapers on the grounds has grown from zero a couple of years ago to lots and lots now....and mostly with ego-types rather than cig-a-likes.

Has anybody bothered to test it?

Has anybody bothered to test it? Yes, as I sometimes vape zero nic, no difference in vapour at all. You know something is missing in the taste, a bit like non alcoholic beer or decaf coffee, otherwise it's all the same.
