Went to my local sainsburys (not sainsburys local) and found e-cigs hidden away with the cigs not on display in the tobacconist...
I went ape....
Phoned careline. The lady (lovely but clueless) said 'maybe it's because they contain nicotine'...'So will you consider putting tomatoes and other things behind the cig counter not on display as well because they also contain nicotine'...
She is going to forward my concerns to the powers that be so here's hoping...
Still on display though at my sainsburys local and also my coop...
I know cig a likes are not ideal but they're a starting point and if we're smoking then of course we can expect to die an early premature death.....but then the chances of being run over by a bus tomorrow are higher than someone catching a chest infection off e-cigs
I don't get it....bar the usual government politics
Didn't have my e-cig on me because it's hot and e-liquid thinning. For now I'd rather be safe than sorry and not vape indoors in public places bar places I know it's okay (certain pubs for example)....

I dont like the fact that in my local tesco superstore they have ecigs on display only in the instore pharmacy. They have done for a while and that just naturally puts it to joe public they are a pharmaceutical product.

@johanino I bet the nic patches, lozenges, chewing gum and other nicotine products were not hidden away! I think the term e cigarette is the deciding factor in such decisions.

I hadn't really thought much about it before, but it is a shame they couldn't have been called something other than "e-cigarette", as it does give the powers to be a bargaining point. "E-vaper" or something along those lines...............then again, no-one knew that the government would search out a loophole to make money out of it, although, in saying that, they have done with just about everything else. I wonder how many "closet" vaping MP's there are...........

Shocked the other day to discover my local family chemist had a big display on their counter selling ego-type batteries and rebranded dekang e-liquid.

w.t.h.? Some people just don't get it. IF 100% of all e-cig users were using them when they weren't allowed to smoke (and smoked eslewhere)....is that such a bad thing. Do people honestly believe that by puffing away on an e-cig indoors (or whatever) in a public place is stopping them quitting smoking? Good to see a mainstream news article. Good to see Dave Dorn puffing away.

I got a reply from sainsburys Dear Miss Jane Thank you for contacting us and for your patience whilst we looked into your enquiry about the display of the E cigarette at our Berryden Road store. After contacting the relevant departments, I can confirm that the E cigarette should be on display, beside tobacco products, but they do not need to be hidden by the shutters. I have called our Berryden Road store today and spoke to my colleague Steven. He advised that the E cigarettes are displayed in the gantry beside tobacco products. However, customers can see the E cigarette on display and I can confirm that this is the way it should be. We apologise if this was not the case on your recent visit. We appreciate that you have taken the time to contact us about this matter, and I hope this information has been helpful. Yours sincerely Russell Andrews - Customer Manager Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd 33 Holborn London EC1N 2HT 0800 636262
